This is really cool. I'm curious how this will look on a Gear VR, since those run at 60fps and require every optimization they can get to maintain that on a cell phone.

You record from two sets of cameras positioned an average eye distance apart, then project one set of cameras to the inside of a sphere shown to one eye, and the other set to the other eye. The limitation is that the cameras are arranged ho

Totally. There's no way they'll dump 10,000 character posts into your feed without providing a summary and read more link. That would destroy the experience on any social network, which is why Facebook already summarizes lengthy p

Another option would be to turn lengthier posts into cards. Uses existing Twitter concepts, doesn't change anything for existing users, lets people express more complex ideas. Seems like an easy change and a big win for everyone.

Downvoted for this? Jeez. I'm a Canadian and I don't think I should have to register and present a justification of my use of a logo I'm not actually going to use in order to use Canada's new font.

Having to apply for use of the logo just to use the font is a bizarre move...

Thanks for the explanation. InfluxDB has been such a pleasure to work with so far that I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something before getting too invested :)

Would be awesome to be able to make small edits (lower or replace an instrument), but congrats on the solid execution of a cool idea!

First, I really like the rebrand and wider focus. I think it will help people understand how your suite of tools work together (I just started playing with InfluxDB + Go yesterday and am loving it, and Telegraf seems a natural fit for anoth

Sounds similar to what High Fidelity are building ( https://highfidelity.com ), which they're also open sourcing.

Looks like it's actually slightly lower. According to Road to VR, it's going to be "2160×1200 at 90Hz split over dual displays" ( http://www.roadtovr.com/oculus-rift-resolution-recommended-s... ).

That it is. DK1 resolution was comparatively pretty awful. Even DK2 isn't great. Crescent Bay and Gear VR felt fairly similar at GDC (rendering capabilities aside), so I'm really curious how much better the Rift CV1 is going to fe

Agreed. Super inspiring, and that's definitely how it feels working in VR these days. Also very cool to see such a sweeping overview of the ongoing engineering challenges we face.

The screen differences aren't that far off between Gear and Rift CV1, but the biggest difference (aside from processing power) is positional tracking. You only get directional tracking of the user's head on the Gear, but games

This makes them very similar in price to Digital Ocean, even slightly cheaper. I wonder what the performance comparison would be between their equivalent tiers... Their S3-compatible object storage is also quite appealing. Being in North Am

I would recommend downloading Unity or Unreal as a starting point. They both give you an entire framework to develop on top of, and their VR support is getting better with each release. We use Unity because it's way more popular with t

I disagree. IMO private messages shouldn't have the same limitation, and I think Twitter would actually benefit from carefully increasing public limits in two or three ways: * Don't count attached images and single links towards t

This is very cool. There's a lot of talk in VR about the importance and power of creating empathy for characters, so this really gives the sense that VR can be a great tool for improving how people relate to and treat each other.

This looks like a really easy-to-use experience for the experts, and I can see the end user's view working very naturally on AR headsets too. Very cool!
