I'm feeling hard pressed to find a better word than extortion to describe Apple's behaviour here. Sucks you have to deal with that.

It would be awesome to know if the other issues hey had have since been improved. RethinkDB has some great ideas and great ergonomics and I'd love to use it again.

I forgot about Hackers and Painters! Pretty sure there's a copy on a bookshelf here somewhere... Interesting quotes. Reminded me of a conversation I had with some local artists a while back who were staunchly in favour of their kids go

Musician and software developer here, and I'm calling BS on that. Here's a transcript of a talk I gave last year on "code as art" (apologies if this sounds like self-promo). You can skip the first half and scroll down to

Love this and currently testing it for deployment at my company. Thanks for making it, it feels 1000x more straightforward than Vault, etc. I'd love to hear an official stance on it from Bitwarden to know their take and whether they&#x

Perl was great for encouraging that kind of thinking with the old motto "there's more than one way to do it". I'm glad I started with Perl because it's helped me think about solutions I may have otherwise dismissed.

Thanks for the explanation, makes sense! Sounds like I could get away with 1GB RAM for development and probably want a bit more of a buffer to be safe in production.

I was looking for dev/production specs for QuestDB the other day and didn't see them in the docs. Being that it's in Java, which can be quite memory-hungry, what's the minimum and recommended RAM/CPU required to run

This approach isn't "giving money away", it's redistributing our own taxes back to us when we need it. It's sound economic policy. It's also taxable income. We routinely do the same thing for businesses in the

As a Canadian business owner, we're super lucky to be in Canada right now, and for the supports that have been put into place for people and businesses alike. Our company was luckily not hit badly enough to qualify for the 75% support

In my worst trip (LSD), I started vividly experiencing other people's lives, including seeing through the eyes of a child, a heroin addict, and a dying old man among several others, and I was convinced this reality was just one of them

It's so crazy to see how far the language has come, and how much it's matured! I started working in Perl around '98-99, switched to PHP in 2000 just after PHP 4 came out, and ended up running a company around it for all of my

Add to that the fact that there's no easy upgrade path since shaders don't work between the old and new pipelines, and it doesn't appear to be possible to support both in the same app (enabling one while disabling the other,

This looks way easier than getting Vault setup! Unfortunately, googling for it returns a ton of info about Apache Knox which is an unfortunate name clash. I would love to see this catch on. Thanks for the share!

As long as it doesn't follow Unity's approach (asset bundles). Unity's favourite thing to do is break asset bundle compatibility between versions.

This has been a cultural problem at Unity for a long time. They introduce half-finished features and then never improve them. A great case in point is their VideoPlayer component which can't open a video without dropping frames because

For game-related use cases, we need to be able to specify which data is reliable and which isn't. Websockets use TCP which doesn't give you that control.
