What I'd suggest for pasting Word content, regardless of editor, is to add a button that first puts the Word content through the server-side wvHtml tool, which extracts clean HTML from Word's awful formatting. I know TinyMCE has a plugin A

Very good point. You definitely don't want to be the one who initiates a breach of the contract, any court will frown heavily on that.

It's not really stealing of source if you wrote it and there's no contract saying it belongs to them. I know in Canada at least, unless otherwise stated copyright stays with the creator (in a contractor relationship, other way around for em

Another thought: If their docs currently suck, you can also monetize lessons on Dojo Learning, so you may be able to make some money selling high quality docs... You can sell lessons even with our free account, so no cost to get started ei

Sorry to disappoint you there. Although, we do support source code highlighting in lessons, so some Dojo toolkit docs could easily be made with Dojo Learning. For example, here's a lesson that has code in it: http://simian.dojolearning.c

So it's soon to be $0.15 instead of $0.09 going to the publishers NOT the artists? As an independent artist, I get paid $0.65-0.70/song (same ratio per album), which is great! Once you're on a label I've heard that drops to $0.05-0.10 and t

Today we've launched a ton of improvements we've been working on for the past few months, including a complete developer API (includes client libs for Ruby, Python and PHP), and a Facebook app to correspond to new social learning features w

I'd consider going into teaching too, if for nothing else than to try to be different and make a difference (Alan Bloom or John Gatto style maybe :).

Well, I've got one album recorded and another written (need to rehearse with a band again to record this one), so I'd get back into pursuing a music career. My lawyer actually made me promise my next "startup" would be my music, so I guess

It doesn't sound like Apple actually blocked it, just that since they haven't lifted the NDA this can't be published yet, and since they don't seem to be concerned with lifting the NDA they probably won't publish it anytime soon. Additional

Didn't know this until just now, but apparently today is the day for protesting software patents. Since there are lots of startup founders on here, who may have a different take than the average hacker, what are your thoughts on the softwa

Capistrano works great for non-Ruby sites too! Our site is in PHP and it was easy to get cap working for us. We also use github.com so the site essentially pulls from there, which means we can also rollback in case we ever need to.

I think that's it too. I was just talking to someone the other day who was with IBM back when MS kicked their butts in the battle between Windows and OS/2. OS/2 was technically superior in many ways, but he was saying that at conferences it

Why don't we just get more people to join a movement giving a cut-off date, like http://iedeathmarch.org/ ? If enough people get behind it, it could get the media attention needed to make it a realizable movement. The PHP community did t
