This holds true for all kinds of pricks, sexist or not, in tech or not; that's what makes them pricks to begin with - their inability to recognise their flaws and a lack of willingness to change.

Indeed. I really don't understand the purpose of the post. What seems to be annoying most people here is that the comments could apply equally to men or women, yet the author assumes the issue is sexism without explaining why. By doing so,

"While it might frustrate some to learn that the man who hectors subway riders to buy a granola bar is making more money than many of those commuters" In my opinion, the article is implying this guy is making pretty good money but they've l

55K revenue? What were his actual profits? Does he pay taxes? Respect to the guy for making a living and taking care of his family, but the piece makes him out to be making a killing when I suspect the reality isn't that inspiring.

I'm not sure I understand the assumption in the article, and in your comment, about it being important to talk over people. In my experience (as a male!), I tend to be most powerful when I shut up, listen to everybody talk for a while, i

Having lived in both Cape Town and Joburg (presently), I've noticed an interesting difference between the city cultures. People in Cape Town seem to start up creative and popular but small businesses, whereas people in Joburg seem to lever

This is precisely the problem for a lot of people. I know plenty of guys who don't think to do this, and I used to be one of them (presumably because of subconscious beliefs that people 'should' be fair). In the past 16 months I've incre

The problem is that somebody who is depressed doesn't think rationally - in fact, in the vast majority of the cases this dysfunctional thinking is precisely WHY they are depressed to begin with. They WILL see the advice in the negative way

It's a pity the replies to your insightful comment are focusing purely on your analogy. While I'm sure these 5 points were made with good intentions, I find them to really miss the point: somebody who is most susceptible to severe depressi

An excellent description of severe depression. I wonder how many people who have never experienced a depression episode will manage to have empathy for it, though. I say this because now that I'm on the path to recovery, it seems I can rec

It may indeed serve a useful purpose to have a wandering mind, but as the article points out "the hallmarks of many forms of mental illness is a preoccupation with one's own thoughts", i.e. perhaps the issue is the extent to which one's m

Aside from the points mentioned by others, the 5DMKII captures far greater dynamic range; look at the detail in the shadows. The 4S produces dark buildings with no definition.
