I disagree that CS deals only with discrete math. Machine learning makes heavy use of linear algebra, with a decent amount of calculus to model statistical phenomena. All of this uses continuous variables, not discrete.

Is it actually feasible to learn Japanese to a professional proficiency level as a foreigner? I've studied Japanese for several years, and can speak Japanese at an intermediate conversational level, but I'm still a long way off fr

On the surface this seems bad, but it looks like you need physical access to the laptop to get in with this vulnerability. If someone has physical access to your computer, you should consider the data compromised (unless you're doing f

This comparison seems a bit unfair -- the special wards are the most densely populated parts of Tokyo. You should compare either New York City <-> Tokyo Metro Area, or Special Wards of Tokyo <-> Manhattan.

Makes sense, seat space isn't really something you consider when shopping for plane tickets. Airlines have nothing to gain by making bigger seats, so the natural progression down this road is smaller and smaller seats -- already, some

In the "Known Attacks" section, they advocate using a mutex to prevent reentrant situations, but they're using a boolean, setting it to true before the operation and setting it to false afterwards. This is not secure -- it&#x

Indeed, those are good ideas for improvements! It's hard to say whether they will improve the AI, as in both cases you're replacing one heuristic with another heuristic. You'd need to implement it and experiment with it -- an

That's a fair objection. You can view my rule as a heuristic that's easy to compute and gives good guesses in most situations, rather than calculating the mathematically correct probability. My AI does actually account for this, b

Yes, I do this as an endgame tactic. In some situations, knowledge of the mine counter can help you deduce that a non-border square is empty. (Details in the last part of the article)
