I've added some documentation. Far from complete, but it should shed some light on the situation for the curious.

Actually I have my own contribution to this space: http://ebuild.origo.ethz.ch/wiki/ebuild Although unfortunately the documentation is not ready yet, it is quite capable and is designed to solve what I perceive to be critical short coming

Every generation is wrong about that, of course. Since you've proved it with your powers of induction. Not saying that you are wrong about the next generation, but you might be.

No, I'm fairly sure this is not possible for me. Although it is not a practical consideration, I do wonder what would happen if everybody followed the nothing ventured nothing gained advice and sent cold the 'optimal' amount of cold solicit

Yes that is a comprehensive list. Reminds me of this similarly canonical list, the great universities of England: Cambridge, Oxford and Hull. Particularly on the criteria of plot 'Requiem for a Dream' can surely not be considered a classic.

As has already been said, private finance simply does not fix this problem, although it does increase the scope for the working generation to avoid their obligations - through stock market crashes and bouts of inflation. In fact that is pre

Government provision does not have to be based upon savings. In its simplest form it is just an obligation (of the current working generation towards the elderly), and if this is not tied to monetary figures then it is much less vulnerable

"My “New American Cyclopaedia” (1872) tells me that in 1855 there were 25,858 people in New York who could neither read nor write, and 21,378 of them were Irish. This may well have been true, but why exactly did it need to be emphasized? We

That is pretty condescending. I am not a libertarian and I even agree with the sentiments of the article, but the analysis offered in the article was very weak and the OP is right to be skeptical.

You are equivocating. Not all paths are equal, or at least in the completely subjective/nihilistic universe in which they are, the words good and bad have absolutely no meaning. We have to have some value system, if only to maintain our sta

Quatsch. It has everything to do with it. If it were not for the collective cognitive dissonance underlying the popular support for this kind of position - i.e. that meat is ok, but blood sports and zoos are bad - then almost any kind of mo

Snow boarders cause more accidents and add risk and higher insurance premiums to skiers around them. In europe at least, there is enough demand, mostly from older people for such a ban, in more than one resort (i believe). I don't want to s

Apostasy! Anyway, the problem is not the policies as such, it is the lack of explanation/feedback. Depending on the nature of the heuristic employed, feedback could perhaps be given in a users profile or during the action of voting (or even

I have a theory that artists do not have the same desires as the public. In cinema a bias towards cinematography and SFX could arise because the plot actually does not interest the artists as much as it perhaps should. Even a good plot will

I would argue it is to do with the medium. The feature length film needs a plot to sustain interest, for me and apparently at least a few other people. If it's just a technology demo then it can be over and done with in 10 minutes - in Avat

Yeah, although the trade off is that as class construction is procedural with prototypes you know longer have a declarative type system. Any type checking will have to come from type inference (when possible).

Normative writing as wide ranging as 'The Virtues' is quasi-religous and an all or nothing proposition. People are not receptive to having their values changed in such a direct manner.
