The article is mentioning Instagram as an amplifier of this need to fake being happy. But I think Facebook is responsible for it as well. I was once talking to a colleague who was showing me some old vacation pictures. Some tropical area. I

If you really want to make it easy to understand, make it graphical. That is: benchmark the code, varying the input size, and plot the results. Almost anyone should be able to understand. This might also reveal effects that are not taken in

Other comments say that Chromium is affected as well. Is it? I reread the article, but it doesn’t seem to state it explicitly.

Thank you for posting all the info here. And I’m glad that you managed to fix the problem. I think it must have caused you a lot of stress.

So CI, automated tests, SCM, small patches, API docs, stand ups and the ability to take breaks. This is not a “highly effective environment”, it’s the bare minimum to have a functional environment. Might have been good advice in the late 90

What about false positives? From the fine article: one Google system was detecting emails coming from another Google system as phishing. This is ridiculous.

Sad. I have often switched to Chromium whenever a Chrome update was breaking various websites I used. Chromium is lagging a bit behind in repositories; some delay is enough to let the website owners update. Then I can switch back to Chrome

I agree with you, but moving to Switzerland is not a very good solution to achieve that. Salaries are high there only because the cost of living is much higher than neighboring countries. The country is very small, so demand for workers is

Not sure if you followed the links I posted, but as Poettering said, the problem is that there are collisions in UUIDs. UUID generation should be robust to random number collisions.
