I fully agree that new is very often worse than old. I've had to return 3 new iPhones in a row for manufacturing defects and out of box software errors. A TV lasts me maybe 4 years before it's 'broken' and needs to be

I take this stance. Almost always, the new software is worse in some way than the old, either taking away some capability to make room for a new product you would have to buy, or by breaking support with hardware you already own. It's

A lot of people think ads before and after videos, or peppered eveyr 3 minutes within an hour long video are no big deal, but many of us have had enough. I pay google around $20 a month to avoid watching ads. I consider this extortion.

This is just another change for change sake in a long list of stupid that does nothing but get in the way of productive people trying to get things done. Spam in start menu. Dumbed down context menus you have to remove before you can get at

I suspect some portion of this can more pixels or not, be attributed to the introduction of notched screens.

So 2 hours to figure out there is no way to disable the news other than turn off the whole widget thing.... my computer is rebooing constantly with intrusive unauthorized updates and even firmware updates... everything is broken. Windows j

I tried to read the article but my HP computer just turned off randomly and installed an unauthorized bios update bricking it. I'm on my phone now and outraged.

This surprises me that rather than the absurd notion of living in a metaverse, that the main concern the author is citing is motion sickness. For what it's worth, and this may not apply to everyone but I've been absolutely unable

I think this is a big part of it. I was an early adopter of iTunes, and it simply chokes on the volume of stuff I was putting in there. With streaming platforms, much of your collection is out of sight/out of mind I find.... I've

This is what I do, and feel is the only solution now. Phone always on DND/only allow contacts to ring. A whitelist approach if you will.

I really loved clunky twitter when it launched. It felt like a kind of collective consciousness... like you could suddenly be mentally connected at a superficial level with users geographically near-by. When it started being more about infl

Yeah, imagine what it's like when your friends and family make comments like this or wish death on you for wanting to have the freedom to choose if taking something is right for you or not. For the record, I'm vaccinated and donat

I had to sign a letter with my employer stating that I accepted I could be terminated should I not be fully vaccinated by Dec 31, 2021. I feel a line has been crossed, and I fully support the idea that the mandate is bad. Vaccines are great

I'm thinking of it like Amazon's mechanical turk.. where you become enslaved to do work and solve tasks in a virtual world for fractions of pennies in the form of credits you can't pay your rent with. Zero point one star.

I see this all the time, with people not understanding where files are or that there is some kind of hierarchical filesystem lurking behind the covers. Thanks for the link.

I think the more 'magic' they bake in to help non-technical users, the more it makes it harder to understand how the thing works for everyone else. As you allude to, cars have some fundamental rules that don't tend to get bro
