My father died of a brain aneurism when I was 2 years old (he was 26). If not for the safety net of SS insurance and VA benefits, I would have had a much harder childhood. I would love there to be more. I also think that discounting what w

This was a ruling in 1985 based on physical theft laws being applied to copyright. <s>It also never made it to the Supreme Court.</s> (edited -- sorry misread this part) Since then, many other laws have been passed, and it&

I think the author is pointing out that an applicant is more likely to believe that a job is interesting and a company is good to work for if their friend works there and is recommending it. So, those other things are taken into account, b

This jibes with an anecdote in "Peopleware". A client staffed new projects by posting them internally where anyone could apply. The authors studied how projects were chosen by applicants, because the client was worried that impor

That was in the rules and quickly abandoned. What they care about is that you don't load new code from the Internet. Ostensibly, the reason is security, but the real reason is they don't want you to make an app store. JavaScript

We are willing to pay for SaaS monthly because the nature of the service is that they have to keep providing it for us to get value. Is that true for fonts? If the foundry stopped working, would I not be able to derive value from the font.

Banks used to fail all of the time with depositors losing assets. This caused a lot of problems, so we enacted some regulation. Now banks still fail (several weekly, without much notice), but depositors have mandated insurance. Are you aga

It is only correct if the random SF and Florida salaries are correct. I work in rural MA and make considerably more than the given SF salary (non-remote). The SF salary is probably better on average (the 50 percentile), but I stand by my s

Why base your saving % on your salary? Again, delta is all that matters. From my experience, that delta is higher in low expense areas. The assumption I'm making is that the typical HN'er is a top performer who can demand top per

For savings, the only thing that matters is the delta between expenses and income. I live in rural Massachusetts and had no problem maxing 401k for 20 years. I used to live in NYC and the delta is way higher here even though the raw salar

There are CRM plugins that do it for you automatically when you view records. At the low-end, when I go into Mailchimp, there's a pay plugin (that I don't use) that puts up social information. If anyone emails me, Rapportive brin
