It would not. The only thing I could imagine countering is: Fly me to Austin for two weeks, put me up in a hotel, and hire me to do a project at $x/hr. If we both like what we see, let's talk about a full-time position. Frankly,

They say that called the US Population correct at 395m, when it's 316m. It was 191m in 1964. So instead of over 100% increase it was 65%. Doesn't feel close to me. For something like this, where we have good models (for exampl

A lot of people call this a chicken-egg problem. For some reason, that's supposed to make it seem hard to solve, when in real life, anybody could start a chicken farm very easily. You simply buy chickens. If your question is how do I

No. You don't pay to watch NBC over the air. Aereo tried to be the one to watch for free and then redistribute it to you also for free (to them).

If you are in the area, I like the atrium in the IBM building (~57/Madison). There are bajillion coffee shops you can easily find, all very crowded. (or, if you are in NYC a short time, stop working! See NYC)

Tech meetups are not the best choice for meeting people. Try movies, museums, hiking, etc. Meetups where there is a built-in social component of perhaps one where conversation is the whole point.

I think we need more information to make a suggestion. What do you mean by less social? For me, I either post to Facebook if the photo is one that I wouldn't mind being completely public and I think is generally interesting to my frie

Most of what you need to learn is Cocoa Touch and whatever other frameworks you want to use. If you need to start today, use the production Xcode and Objective-C -- it will be far less frustrating. Give the Swift book a quick read in a mon

You can say whatever you want in your terms of service. Enforceable or not, good-actors just follow the rules of the service -- because if the service wanted to block you, they could probably easily do it.

IANAL, but websites are allowed to control (via their terms of service) whether you can scrape them and use their data. There is a difference between accessing a website via chrome and via a native app that uses the website as a service.

From a business metric point of view: it is probably one of the best things they can do to reduce the global number of app crashes, which I would think is a driving factor in customer satisfaction.

We agree that Apple can write and distribute code for its own apps, and share between them. What does it matter what the technical details are? Doing it the way that they do uses less memory -- that's better for users. It's not f

I did, but my point still stands. 500 is in the expected result set. Put up an error that says Apple's server is down. If you need a feature to work in the presence of down servers, you need to make your own fallback or perhaps cache

In the future contract dispute, how will you explain lying to the customer? IANAL, but it's usually not legal to lie so blatantly about business relationships. You are his partner.

A server being down is not a bug -- the app should expect 500 is a possibility and deal with it. In this case, why does Dark Sky need to geocode? My Lat/Long is enough to know my weather.

You can add meaning to your work by picking goals and accomplishing them. It doesn't matter what they are -- just as long as they can be accomplished and you know that you did. Pick things that incidentally accomplish the assigned goal
