Ha. Your example is rather specific seeming to me, as I actually work on one of the big 5 Canadian banking iOS apps here in Toronto. For obvious reasons; we don’t ship to alternate stores - even if such a thing as iOS sideloading existed; w

So I’m guessing with this you’d use an alternative store like F-Droid instead of the Play Store? (Pardon my ignorance, I’m an iOS dev and have been for a decade; I don’t really know the Android landscape.)

Came here to say this. I grew up in the Sonic ROM hacking and fan game creation community (with this same username - my first posts are around 2001 and still around) and it was so cool to see how SEGA not only didn’t fuck with, but silently

Future projection: Cinemas will become the next arcades. For a time, arcades were the only way to experience video games, just as cinemas were for films, and, at least through the early 90's, they were still by far the best way to expe

Obviously that's massively different. We can sit up, pause, move around, snuggle with a lover, we can just run and take a piss if we need without worrying about missing a critical scene, or watch it in two parts if we're feeling t

If we want long movies in the cinema, we desperately need to re-introduce the intermission. Seriously, going to Avatar 2 was a nightmare I think for half the people who saw it because after 1 1/2 hours, your popcorn and drink are empty

There was, in the 2000's, a SEGA Saturn emulator called 'Cassini'. I now know why, lol.

While I have my complaints with the Apple ecosystem, I similarly have to agree that in my case as an audio producer - MacOS 'just works' - I rarely have to do updates, there's no intrusive advertising; I'm an Apple Music

If the commenter can't open their existing Ableton files in Bitwig, and/or use the existing VSTs they've likely spent years with and collected or designed presets for, it makes somehow converting to an entirely new DAW far to

This is fantastic! I am a huge fan of seeing limited hardware pushed to it's limits (I'm a SEGA Saturn homebrew developer at the moment, but in high school I was huge into GBA, and then eventually DS, programming) and this is th

The cores were also ARM7 and ARM9, respectively. IIRC, the ARM7 one was essentially identical to the ARM7 used in the GBA, and was used for the GBA backwards compatibility mode on the original DS/lite.

Yeaaaaah, until that stranger ends up being a total sketchbag. As a woman, unless I'm meeting other women I'd never feel safe about this. Even so, it would be weird. Could never be down for this, and I'm only half a recluse

Why would I replace it with Firefox? What makes it different than Firefox? If I'm already using Firefox, and have it set up the way I'd like, why should I change it? That's the point I think a lot of commenters here are makin

How easy is it to flash Ubuntu onto an existing Android phone? Is there any potential to dual boot between it and Android? Has anyone tried it out? How usable is it? Does it have actual calling support?

I still use XP 90% of the time when I just need a quick VM to run some odd Windows utility or other. It's lightweight, it's not filled with the intrusive privacy issues of 10 or 11, and a surprising amount of software is still com

I think; for myself, at least - doing ‘useless’; or passion/pet projects are a way to ‘keep up your chops’ or the like as a developer, and keep your inspiration for it. I do SEGA Saturn homebrew, and mostly actually just experiments (I
