I bought a laptop with a 1920x1200 display in 2007. It was a 17" Dell, but still, it took nearly ten years before higher resolutions became common.

I think the following bit at the very bottom of the article suggests that it isn't: " HDR+ will be the first application to run on Pixel Visual Core. Notably, because Pixel Visual Core is programmable, we’re already preparing the

Yes, someone linked a news article here about a tragic accident in Munich. The truck driver was cleared of all charges. Sometimes genuine accidents happen. But that's not what the article or this discussion are about, is it? I don'

I think the argument goes something like this. We fine people who text while driving because it’s a distraction, potentially leading to dangerous situations that might otherwise be avoided. Thus, if you kill someone while texting and drivin

No, they recognise the danger cars pose to others and the responsibility this places on drivers. What makes cars so special that it's seen as okay when a person is killed with one?

I think the suggestion is rather that it should be a felony to kill someone in an accident, unless that person was acting recklessly (e.g. running a red light).

On the other hand, if a serious issue is detected after a specific version has already migrated to testing, the package will never (automatically) migrate to testing as long as new blocking issues keep being found. This can make testing r

Don't use the PIN as key, but something long and random, and encrypt it with the PIN. When you change the PIN, you only have to re-encrypt the key.

Yeah except most of Europe is in the Central time zone: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_in_Europe . Sometimes I encounter GMT/BST times but only when looking at UK things. It's all CET/CEST here.

I really enjoyed "Efficient Modern C++". I'd describe it as a good overview of new features in C++11 and 14, how to use them, and how they fit together, but I'm not sure whether it makes for a good "C++ for C progra

A new mac Mini with 8GB RAM is 819€ in Germany. A new iPhone 7 32GB is 759€. That's 1578€, or $1880. Add a one-year developer subscription and you're still below $2000. Your claim is just plain wrong.

I think it's more likely that 34 years were chosen because 1980 - 34 = 1946 makes sense for a post-WW2 analysis. The graph doesn't vary wildly for most of the time (most of the change is a fairly smooth motion), so it seems unlike
