I have sadly lost my copy of the Digital Technical Journal that had this article, it was a All-Alpha issue, if I remember correctly. The authors are not attributed at the beginning of the article, but they are all named at the end.

That's no enigma. enigma had 3 or 4 rotors. This is more like a "tunny", almost. Germany's teleprinter encryption, what you hear about that was decrypted at Bletchly Park, was a machine that had 12 rotors. This pictu

That was not Ken Olsen, I can assure you. It might have been Bob Palmer, but I don't think he was ru(i)nning the company until the early 90s. Ken was a frugal and deeply religious man. The first time I met him, he was picking up tras

Join your local radio club, or attend their (online) meetings. There are lot of people who would like to help you get licensed, grow your skills, and get better licensed. The Technician test is a few rules and Ohm's law, you learn wha

Stereophile magazine has never been known for science, mostly pseudo-scientific, unsubstantiable claims. They still insist that double-blind testing is not suitable for audio. I used to subscribe to the magazine, but would get infuriated

What's old is new again. This reminds me of Digital's VEST technology. VEST would convert VAX programs to run on Alpha. From 32-bit CISC to 64-bit RISC. Nearly 30 years ago. https://web.stanford.edu/class/cs

You might look at what Jamie Dupree has done. https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/15/health/dystonia-jamie-dupree-... He uses a text-to-speech system that sounds more-or-less like him.

DEC had a tool called VEST which was used to take native VAX binaries and convert them to run on Alpha AXP. It was very cool technology. A fair amount of the system utilities for OpenVMS on AXP were VESTed VAX binaries. I'm pretty s
