Your assumption is fair, and feedback is generally welcomed, but this kind of opinion is not helpful or solicited. Some people may not know the correct spelling.

> I do get annoyed with people who "complain online'. That's just a waste of time. It's really not. I learned about this situation by reading complaints and passive comments online.

I think you're over-generalizing. Most people with an iPhone do not care about side-loading apps. They may be ignorant, but they also do not care . The same reason I am ignorant about the rules of NBA, or Cricket - I simply do not

For what it's worth, I agree with you. I work in software and the number of times I have inspected the source of something I'm running could be counted on one hand. I trust Apple, I trust the open-source community to look for me

You're right, but that fundamentally changes how I look at apps on my iPhone and my device or the ecosystem as a whole. Right now, any app icon I see on my phone, or any Apple device, I implicitly trust, because I have outsourced my tr

You are right of course - my example sucks. I'm trying to think of a more appropriate example, but my heart is not in it.

That mantra is less about using arbitrary programing languages and more about using something like redis (or some other niche/useful/existing tech) instead of recreating the wheel in python/java/node/whatever.

You helped illustrate my point though - I don't care at all what you have to do to do your job as a user using a browser. Sort of like how I don't care about how the engine in a Subaru works compared to the engine in a Honda.

From the article/rant: > Safari is a joke. Why? I use it daily as my primary browser. I am a software developer. Anytime I enter a discussion about this, I get a lot of responses that are _completely irrelevant to me_ about plugins

It's not meaningless - as a user of his product I would love to be updated that the product I am using is maintained and was just improved/modernized. It tells me the product is not abandoned. I think updates like that are great.

Apple is taking a cut for providing the store itself, distribution, visibility, SDKs/frameworks, etc. Why would they refund 30%?

I would say that I would confidently update from: "1.2.1" -> "1.2.6" without batting an eyelash if my tests passed. "1.2.1" -> "1.6.2" would give me pause, but I wouldn't shy away from it.

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood or misread the article. The source article makes this claim: > It “makes” “the” “html” “that” “is” “already” “cluttered” “enough” “even” “less” “readable”. So other than 'makes the html less readable

Ok, but if I pick up pennies between my car and the grocery store the opportunity cost is basically nil, and then after a few months I'd have a non-trivial amount of cash.

Sometimes people say things in different ways that resonate differently with different people and that is valuable. For example, you could have made this point without as much snark, or not commented at all - would anyone have noticed?
