This is the dream of multi-messenger astronomy: Simulations show that next generation gravitational wave detectors will be able to detect the initial part of the wave before the actual merger of objects (or collision?). If you can identify

Have they released v7 yet? When I started my PhD it they announced it, and I looked forward towards the consistency between certain parts of the software they would introduce (some mismatches really dont make sense and are clearly organic)

Not to be nitpicky but this message also talks of jury trial, which EU countries generally don't have.

When my grandma passed away I took the sofa because I was a poor student in need of a sofa. After about 10 years of daily use I started to notice some of the cushions sagging. Asked the family when she bought the couch and it predates my bi

Last summer I read a translation that tries to keep the rhyme and rythm. For parts I just got enchanted and kept reading and reading way longer than normal for me. How great it would be to hear this from someone who memorised it.

On top of that no sharing/@ing: no notifications for responses (there's probably an addon for that if you want it). At first I thought I wouldn't like it, because I tend to post on subjects I'm knowledgeable and want to

Quarks can not be alone, because of this confinement. What we see experimentally is that when we add energy to particles at some point they split into new particles and we never see a naked quarks. We explain this by saying the quarks have

It was a plasma of quarks and gluons first (these particles make up protons and neutrons and other unstable particles) which did cool down and become these particles. [ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronology_of_the_u

This makes me sad. I use SoundCloud to listen to one genre only (progressive trance for when I'm programming) and its gotten so good at recommending me exactly what I like. On top of that DJ sets are top notch. There are many genres I

Excellent write up! I learned a lot and there's still much I did not fully understand. In my spare time I got to the point in the article of trying to figure out which URLs are ads and blocking those with a pihole in section 4.11 and f

After watching MKBHD talking about how amazing the eye tracking is, my first thought is: When will apple start selling ads? They can use the eye tracking as feedback to advertisers, allowing apple to ask more money than non-eye tracked ads

The reply all podcast has a nice episode on this, #109. Whether your phone is listening to your conversations. They conclude that ads are shown to people you know. So you search for a product and then your partner gets ads for this product

To make it more complicated, they measure mass-squared! The original KATRIN article from 2019 (which I read at the time) measured a mass-squared of m^2 = (-1.0) +0.9 -1.1 eV^2. This is obviously unphysical, as a negative mass, let alone a n
