Also, if you want a more readable and entertaining introduction, I highly recommend the book "Linked: The new science of networks" by Barabasi.

I think what the article argues is exactly this: there would be less hyper-connected nodes if the nodes would be more locally connected. The spreading of the disease would happen much more slowly in this case. This fits in with the theory o

Sorry, I'm skeptical about that. The movements are big so that they will be captured and correctly interpreted by their pattern recognition system. I think they would not be able to detect very subtle movements like ASL. It is ingenious to

Similarly I find parallel coordinates diagrams hard to grasp. I know they show direct and inverse correlation between neighboring variables but surely there are much better tools for that.

Would you tell about some other projects that you did before delicious? Not necessarily their names, just roughly what they were about. Basically I'm curious whether there was a logical succession or were you just trying out random ideas.

It's worth mentioning that Finland is quite egalitarian, so the difference between the "minimum wage" and a "decent wage" and a "very nice wage" are pretty small. e2k is quite close to what can be earned as a programmer or engineer at entry

In the tradition of news.yc, I'd be glad to get your feedback on these ideas. I'm not pursuing any of them right now, so I'd just like to find out if there is any value in them, if they already exist, or are impossible, etc.

I'd argue that using FB is pointless, not quiting it. Not using it is the default state of things, so the burden of proof should be on the other side. It's a bit like with smoking.

Thanks, that settles the question. However, browsing interfaces might still affect the statistics, for example, if someone right-clicks a link and selects "copy link location" than pastes it into address bar, it is clearly a "direct access"
