You are totally correct - I was thinking of 'picture messages' which this could send. I was only a little jealous of the 3210 as i thought it was quite ugly really, but the 3310 seemed a heap better, especially with the blue led (

Totally! When I got my Nokia 5146 (still basically a 5110) - you had to pay I think £50 for the phone, plus the contract of £15 a month. A month or two later you could get the 3210 for free, plus a better contract from orange, that took adv

I've often pondered why some animals make friends. I grew up on a small farm, where we mainly kept sheep. Most of the year the ram would have next to no interest in the yews (female sheep), unless there was some sort of threat - he

Lost myself to this blog this morning - so much great stuff in there, and crosses over with so many of the things I was interested in in my early 20s - brilliant posts about the Fossil PDA watch, the Web@nywhere and loads about vintage tech

Certainly - that will benefit a lot of people who didn't want to (or who couldn't) take advantage of those offers. I was tempted to go for one, but would still have been around £400 a month after tax. I far prefer to buy a car in

Totally agree - I live in a small (coastal) town where a there are very few jobs outside of service roles - and they are highly seasonal. Average salary for peole that work in the town must be around £20-25k and even cheap houses here are £

Been blown away by 2nd hand prices lately. Back in 2022 we needed another car for my wife, and she wanted an auto. I would have loved to get an electric as she doesn't cover a lot of miles - but £12k was cheap at the time for something

Not disagreeing with your central points - but average UK salary is now £35k and the average house price is £289k - therefore house prices are currently 8.25 times the average salary. Regional variations will make this far worse in many pop

Here in the UK I can't say that we have the same issue - BUT we have far fewer SUVs and lights are regulated far more. You'll fail your yearly MOT (car roadworthiness test) if you have lights that are too bright or misaligned, and

This post deserves to do better on hn. A good write up of the problem, but more interesting was the steps to get this resolved - it is a shame it took them reaching out over LinkedIn to get a pretty huge issue solved.
