Just curious - how do you find this wrong? What utopia do you live in where money does not confer power?

Why do you think you came to programming "late" if you are in your 30s? Have you faced any age discrimination?

IMHO, it is a mistake to teach kids something like computer science early on in school. The focus of a school should be to teach kids transferrable skills in the classics: mathematics, art, latin, etc. The students will always have time to

You're being ridiculous. My question was about US laws, which is non-general information and also constantly changing. I claimed I have no knowledge about it, and asked if someone else did. What is your problem with that? You aren'

Well, no. I do not know anything about US laws. I do know stuff about US politics and history, however. I also know stuff about British history, but not British laws. What's the point of this long list you've compiled?

As a non-american, this is so strange. Doesn't the US have pollution laws that say you cannot pollute near where people live? That seems to me like a very fundamental responsibility of the state.

The short answer is that everyone can see the current system is not sustainable, and that any change will be potentially catastrophic. Holding cash is going long on fear, and being prepared to deal with a massive crunch when it comes. The s

Are you serious? Where could Apple establish itself if not for the US? Or Google? Or Facebook? The government comes first, as a guarantor of civilization. Everything else comes later.

Why isn't the government doing this? Why do we have to depend on the benevolence of billionaires to do something so essential?

How will it lead to total civil war? All it will lead to is the police stops taking people's property without a court order or they risk getting shot.

A timeless read. It is almost sad to see how people who lived in in the early part of the twentieth century were so optimistic about technology. From Russell to Keynes, they all predicted an era of surplus where no one would have to work so

I'm with you in not expecting stuff from people, but surely as a human you have a right on earth. Who gave the ones before you the right to own the planet and the right to make you work if you want to live on it?

How do you suggest we modulate land price if not via the current system? How is land tax going to make things any easier? The US already has property tax - you want to raise it?

It is wrong to assume corruption. It might just be that China prefers seeing local companies run the Chinese market, and engages in a form of protectionism. That is perfectly justified and not corrupt.
