It's a very real issue. The main problem is that Coca Cola basically took over the whole country. In my experience you can't find a dinner table without a liter bottle of coke or processed juice. I've gotten strange reactions

An interesting thought, but you've really just made 3-4 SVO sentences rather than 1 SOV sentence.

If it's not too personal, I'm curious to know how a child that young acquires an interest in languages. Do they have a friend from a different background or something like that?

My recent handwritten gaming experience was Subnautica, where I kept a piece of paper and jotted down rough locations of the points of interest as a way to keep track of directions and distance (shipwreck 5000 meters south by southeast etc.

I'm fortunate to have a newsstand in my (US) town that goes to the trouble of importing some licorices and similar from europe and australia. It's been fun trying new kinds and finding my favorites. Wish I could check out this sho

It's still the same and I agree it's a splash of cold water to sign up for the platform and immediately be put through the gauntlet. I would say it's worth getting through it as none of the actual course material is like that

I agree with your overall point but I don't think those comparisons are very useful. Regardless of my monthly latte consumption, an extra 50/month is 50/month... the only real comparison imo is how much you'd be saving v

It's an interesting question. My opinion just from things I've read is that they're seeing chunks of the board, where the chunks get bigger as they gain more experience. A beginner looks at one piece at a time, an intermediat

That reminds me of my introduction to linguistics class, where I promptly learned that no one knows what a word is.

Thanks a lot for posting this, I read the whole thing after. These predictions would have been impressive enough in the 60s; to hear that this is coming from 1909 is astounding.

You do, but others don't, and I can't imagine anyone getting confused by a phrase like "I went on a [plane emoji] yesterday!" so it's not a barrier to communication. So where's the issue?

I'm not sure if this helps further the analogy or not, but I would use an AI if it could help with the annoying first part of the puzzle where you just have to spread out the pieces and flip them all over.

Hopefully it's not taken in poor taste to compare the situation to a video game, but I can't help but think of Cyberpunk 2077's Dogtown. This zone that's become a den of all sorts of sad behavior, ruled by martial law. T

Are you all aware that there is an entire text article underneath the toy RPG? Follow-up question, are you aware that the article is the real point of this page, and that the game is simply an illustrative example?
