Ah yes, the mythical competent C developer; Who knows all the corner cases, implementation details and never makes mistakes? This bridge doesn't need guard rails. A competent pedestrian wouldn't walk off the edge.

Your problem, then, is believing that the pill contains something you can never generate without it. This is a false belief. You absolutely can, and should, make the conscious decision to be more like X in your everyday life, where X is how

Could you expand a little on how you're doing that? I've been thinking about transitioning entirely to sqlite for all my data.

Interesting question. Was afraid of the shower drain cover's holes once, but generally no, have seen few human-made objects possessing the phobic quality. I think manufactured patterns are too regular and neat to trigger it.

It's not merely a 'dislike' though. I've had arachnophobia (spiders). It feels like an intense, paranoid, startling horror which demands visual attention and quick jumping away of the body. If I know there's a spi

Last I heard it was expanding -- and the expansion was accelerating. When we looked at the most empty spot we could find with the best camera ever built, we saw more universe than we could even have imagined. Earth, ok, that's somewhat

My experience is the opposite. Having switched entirely to light on dark (as well as adjusting the blue component of my screens to zero), switching the display of information back to dark on light feels like a nuclear blast of a million Sun

I don't know. My bank "double spent" a hundred bucks the other day, that took them half a month to return. There was some error with the debit card system where it wouldn't accept my card, then when the cashier rebooted

> It's not a matter of "supposed to" Some expressions from the top of the article: "severely deficient", "impaired", "absence of". Sounds very much "supposed to but isn't" to me

Humans evolve. Computer systems aren't exactly "spatial", and virtually all attempts to model them as such have failed. We ought to strive for future vision.

Consider this: To gain any information from a screen, you must actually look at it. You can only look at one screen at a time. The entire functionality of a second screen can be replaced with a single button: While that button is pressed,

Making them round is so inefficient for the machines. Make 'em long -- that way you merely need to pass dough through a conveyor. Then, use the money you saved on the simpler machinery to do an advertizing campaign to change the public
