Slow down tiger. I'm just trying to clarify the original point as to why people are pissy at GS and the other dealers. Obviously there are nuances to this issue, but my point still stands. The masses aren't pissy because GS turns a profit

Not so if they have an (unfair) information advantage over mom-pops that allow them to move ahead of the market.

You can really say the same for most of the big dealers... In fact there are a few who actually are BIGGER brokers who serve more institutional clients than GS...

The beef that people have isn't that they're making money, but that they're doing so unfairly and at the expense of taxpayers and individual mom-pop investors. I'm not taking a stance here. Just clarifying.

Fair. But you don't need to be accurate, just within reason. Explaining your inputs logically is important for other people to see at your level. Plus as another posted mentioned, going through these motions helps you better understand yo

I'm not defending 5 year projections. Simply arguing for a different pitch method. Projections are fine so long as the inputs are reasonable. If people don't buy your assumptions they won't buy your conclusions. 1 year, 5 year, or 10 year

True, but not all features have the same value. Not to mention "whats the best deal" is highly variable across user profiles and needs. Veblen Goods are good examples of how twisted definitions of value can be.

Thanks for posting this. I disagree slightly with the point on 5 year projections. With any economic model, garbage in means garbage out. I think everyone knows this. In addition to re-packaging your model to answer more relevant questio

No problem. Great site. I always welcome better search technologies. In regards to the filtering I think allowing the user to do a bunch of cross-filters would be of immense value. Factors like type of website, author, creation/update da

Not just limited to phone technologies. I think there is a larger trend of pandora-like predictive analytics soon to seep into our connected lives. In Soviet Russia, you don't browse the web. The web browses you!

Man I see this so much at my job. Its amazing that architects don't catch things like this. Was there any requirements written up or charters that justified moving accounts payable to real-time? Its pretty inane, as you point out, how com

I like the preview feature. I wish this had more features though. It would be neat to divide the search results into some higher-level buckets, so I know which links are blog postings, mainstream media, forums, etc.

Is there a reason why you haven't changed the design to reflect this? Also have you looked into behavioral economics? Anecdotally, I know that this is a somewhat "hot" area for loyalty programs (miles, etc.).

I see this quite a bit in my current job. Question for you, how did IT sell this to the business folks (or the buyer)? Was this under the auspices of enterprise agility?

How many of these students are attending elite schools? I agree that more and more Chinese students will head overseas for school, but what real impact does this have on selectivity? The elites will always cap the number of internationals

The point I made regarding uniform students was to emphasize that admissions committees admit students based on the profile they want the class to look like and not just on the individual merits of the student themselves. I think this is a

At the very elite level I'm not sure it would really change much, but I'm not sure I fully understand what you're implying so I'll defer to you for clarification. The article makes a good general point but misses many of the nuances that de

Hi Hillel, To concur with the masses... great site! I like the idea and I think its more intuitive than some of the comments would suggest. This reminds me of these interactive CD-ROM books that my little sister used growing up (shes 18 no
