I don't think it's so simple. Support for fascism can seem sensible and logical if you let yourself think that between you and greatness stands a minority whose sole purpose is to prevent you from becoming great. You could argue i

Well, I don't know about that. I strongly suspect chatgpt could deliver whole copyrighted books piece by piece. I suspect that because it most certainly can do that with non-copyrighted text. Just ask it to give you something out of th

A far better analogy would be a self-driving car coerced into a crash. I wouldn't say it's pointless. I'd be pretty angry if I parental-locked everything only to find out that clever children found a way.

Given that Sutskever once described his idea of AGI-human relationship to be like that of CEO-board (how ironic) I suspect there aren't really any good guys here. There might only be good intentions.

FWIW, that's called zealotry and people do a lot of dramatic, disruptive things in the name of it. That would be a really bad take on climate change.

I think only a minority of the general public truly cares about AI Safety That doesn't matter that much. If your analysis is correct then it means a (tiny) minority of OpenAI cares about AI safety. I hope this isn't the case.

I don't think this is entirely true. There are degrees to AI safety dependent on what we input as AI in the equation. You typically don't hear alarm bells when AlphaFold is discussed. LLM's indeed may produce harmful content

Have humans been ready for anything? Like controlling nuclear arsenal? The Manhattan project urged Truman in a letter not to use the atomic bomb. There were also ideas of inviting Japanese delegacy to see the nuclear tests for themselves.

If artists collectively notice (and can prove) a decrease of value of their work then I'd wager fair use is definitely broken, particularly: 4. the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work.
