While an AI model does not ONLY reproduce, it most certainly can make verbatim reproductions. The things preventing the user from getting copyrighted material from chatgpt are probably only rules/guardrails. The most prominent example of this is perhaps the Bible which you could get from it quote by quote within token limit.
