To compare to an air conditioner. This device has about 40W of cooling per m2. Apparently in Australia you should size between 80 and 120 W/m2 of air conditioning (I think this is cooling watts rather than power usage watts) - https:&

Vaping indoors for any length of time leaves a sticky residue over everything - perhaps either nicotine or propylene glycol residue. Even ignoring the air quality issues for people who didn't sign up for it, it's not completely im

Given how effective natural selection is for selecting surviving traits, why are you so sure that a parasite can't have some level of behaviour altering effects? Sure, it's probably not an inner monologue telling the hyena where t

It's an interesting question - I'm not sure there was ever a lightbulb moment. I think I've always thought "I will have kids some day" - even as a teenager. How much of that is just following the societal norms I do

I've got a 14 month year old. The daily grind is relentless. But it's not miserable. I've watched a tiny helpless creature turn into a curious little person who can walk around and play with things, who gives me big smiles an

Every static caravan I've been in has been a horrible building. The walls are paper thin, the whole thing shakes when you walk around, it's poorly insulated, the furnishings are cheap. I'm not sure how much of that requirem

I think once electric motorbikes are a bit more viable, internal combustion ones should be banned. I'm sure there's plenty of responsible bike owners, but the bad eggs are _really_ bad. They're so incredibly antisocial in urb

I spent a couple of years living next to a main road. Not a highway, but one of the main routes into London from the south east. The noise was terrible. It wasn't even that the road was particularly constantly busy, but because it was

In the embedded world, software can absolutely destroy hardware in all sorts of ways. I've done it many times. Loading untrusted firmware onto a PCB with high current outputs - like motor control - should absolutely void your warranty

That seems odd to me. Are they arguing that the API calls themselves are under copyright, and so the GPL applies? That sounds like a similar situation to the Google vs Oracle lawsuit - which ruled that the API usage was fair use. If I write

If it's literally just burning out LEDs, you could probably do some fairly simple modifications to protect those LEDs. It's not exactly ideal, but a simple resistor in line with each LED would almost certainly solve the issue.
