Sure, I understand that. What I meant is: How could he be the face of IE when its politics obviously stink?

I once watched a panel discussion with him and a representative from Opera and Mozilla. I never understood how someone who is as likeable as him could come up with something as evil as Internet Explorer 6-8.

Is this a cleanroom implementation? Also, I'm certain MS holds some form of IP on the DirectX line of products. Have they made any threatening noises?

Could you please share how exactly you do the "jump to file foo.bar" functionality? That is the only part of vim I still find a bit laborious, probably because I haven't found a good workflow for it.

I was just about to write a blog post complaining about this very same problem. My 2.1 update was 6 month late and I can't root my phone, which was exactly why I wanted an Android. I will buy an iPhone next time. If I have the choice of ben

I'm the first to admit that I have a bit of computer nerd hubris: I constantly and secretly think to myself that I do the most complicated work in the company and this quote supports this self-aggrandising, vain and stupid thought. I need t

To be honest, I thought it would look much worse. I would say it is even acceptable if you design for a website with a tech-savvy audience.

I agree, my little theory about why women don't want to work in IT or study CompSci is that they don't want to hang around with the nerdy types. Medicine and Law has more prestige.

As someone who only knows the Roman alphabet, I too think that learning thousands upon thousands of glyphs just to read a newspaper is insane. However, I do think that you underestimate the power of "we've always done it that way" and "it h

Maybe not so much in this specific instance, but Germany's economic and political structure (decentralisation of power and money) was a direct result of the occupation by the Allies, who wanted to avoid a strong central government. America

Hmm, I enjoy hearing all the praise heap onto us (Germany) latetly. There was a time when Germany was called the sick, fat old man of Europe, too inflexible and and stubborn to able to adjust to a changing environment. I'm sure once the gro

What is Oracle doing that is enraging the top engineers so much? Bray, Gosling and now him are all saying that they don't want to work for Oracle. I thought if you're that far up the ladder you have a lot of freedom.

This article is a great insight about what was hot 12 years ago - a little time capsule, if you will. The web (or browser to be precise) is mentioned only in passing; the author could to not have seen that it would be the platform which m
