Fwiw, Borg is coming up on 10. 12 if you include the project it forked from. I like the simplicity of rsync approaches, but Borg seems to have longevity and widespread use.

Rclone also has a hash-based dedupe mode. Still different from borg, but it can be a little more robust than name-based.

In the past, the discussion about sync speed seemed to focus on the webdav implementation that nextcloud uses.

It seems like "modern filesystem" development focus shifted to distributed a few years back.

I think you nailed it on the ceramics. Pretty sure they are looking at falling ceramic particles in the tower to capture and transfer the concentrating solar.

I don't know how familiar you are with opensuse tumbleweed, but it is a continuously rolling distribution with a decent amount of automated testing of each release. At times, there can be 2-3 new releases per week. Sometimes only a few

Couple of points, but not a physicist or scientist. 1. I believe most existing concentrating solar plants operate below 1,000C. 1,500C might be well understood in producing syngas using other energy sources, but operating a CSP at that temp

To be fair, Tumbleweed has had snapshot/rollback built in and generally triggered at important points for years. There are exceedingly few scenarios where you can't just move to the prior snapshot to get a working system again - t

I don't see anything in that link which indicates the total value of taxes paid by NYS residents to NJ or the net. That said, I think it only takes a casual observation of bridge, tunnel, and mass transit hubs during rush hours that il

The cynical argument is that Christie pulled out of ARC to win points with conservative voters ahead of a presidential run. That is probably where I land. However, construction started in 2009 (when NJ budget was massively strained) and NJ&

Few points but overall agree. 1. ARC was a bad project. Gateway was always going to be necessary even if ARC was completed. I'm skeptical that the region would get a second bite at the federal funding apple for Gateway if ARC was built

Again, every NJT commuter to NYC from NJ is subsidized by NJ to earn money in NYC and pay taxes to NYS. NJ's subsidization of NJT reduces the number of car trips into Manhattan dramatically. NJ commuters to NYC/NYS pay income tax

NY State collects billions of tax dollars every year from NJ residents that work in New York. Every mass transit NJ commuter to NYC is subsidized by NJ and subsidizes the NYS budget. That structural dynamic, in effect, kneecaps NJ and by vi

Why wouldn't you consider dollars spent on M&A to effectively be R&D? M&A of those companies before they get to market is basically paying prior stages of investors in the company back for funding the R&D up to that poi

Kalpa has more rough edges than Aeon, but I've been test driving Kalpa on an old Chromebook for the last few weeks. Definitely worth a spin.
