it doesn't really make sense to tax long-term capital gains as income, especially under a progressive system. if I hold an asset for ten years and then sell it, a significant part of the nominal gain will be due to inflation (though th

if you receive stock as compensation, it is taxed as income. if the stock wildly appreciates after that event (and is later sold), it is capital gains.

it's unreasonable for me to ask even as a private citizen? I like cash too and frequently use it. I'm really just curious here. under what set of beliefs would it make sense to transport $82k cash across the country just to open a

that's not really the same thing. the football player didn't realize a loss in any of those years, at least not in the same way that a company can. they just made less money over time. the real difference here is there are no marg

it shouldn't have any bearing on whether the TSA confiscates it, but it's a reasonable question to ask. I too wonder why it makes sense to transport $82k in cash just to open up a new bank account. if you just walk into the branch

I'd guess the type of person who would trash a public restroom is also pretty likely to just relieve themselves in the street after being banned. not sure what problem this solves.

regarding #2, the math isn't necessarily clear at all. I actually have no idea how much my health insurance costs. my employer isn't required to fill that box on my W-2, so they don't. I'm mostly convinced that the avera

yes, I grew up in baltimore and have lived in/around the city most of my life. I'm very familiar with the neighborhoods we are discussing. the city is much less safe than it was ten years ago, and that is really saying something.

I didn't realize they now had a performance model, thanks for sharing. tbh I'm probably going rwd on my next car (very interested in the new brz/86), but I'll keep it in mind.

none of those numbers fully describe the performance of a CPU, but idk why you would be "skeptical" of frequency numbers in particular. IPC itself is somewhat arbitrary. in the real world, IPC constantly varies with the mix of ins

it doesn't really make sense for dell to offer a choice between T and non-T for the same model. the only reason to use a T part is to stay under a power/TDP budget.

F means it lacks an IGP. in a certain sense you were right; the F variant sacrifices frequency for lower TDP vs a K variant. but there are also KF parts that are unlocked and also lack an IGP. and of course there's a different system e

you probably won't get murdered, but if you live in any walkable area of baltimore for a long time it's pretty likely you'll get mugged. source: everyone I know that's lived there more than five years.

mass shootings are a very small fraction of gun homicides that receive disproportionate coverage. if mass shootings stopped overnight, you would barely notice a change in the US homicide rate.
