Any open source is good open source, meta has contributed react and pytorch to the world. They should be applauded for their contributions to software. They have done far more than any other big tech company.

I'm not sure if ego is playing into it, and I dont think he is necessarily "underperforming", but its getting hard to accept the terms of the deal. Even with the money we have raised, I feel as though I am handing over my ver

I've seen rewrites of systems in FAANGs that would tank revenue to zero if the system went down. Usually it occurs over 5+ years with 30-50 people, even then every last detail is usually never hammered out.

I think we are still too early. Better to be just a few years old right now.

A bunch of Harvard grads I know have ridden that name for a decade. A small example, one was slacking off in a tech company, got laid off. They raised 1M to "do AI", with no technical skills at all. They hired a dev, six months la

Yeah the issue is its really unhealthy to drink enough to be hungover multiple times a week. But then the question is, what are we saving ourselves for? Life is happening. I've tried meditation, could never reach a high enough level wi

It might be energy level, I have wondered whether I am overly caffeinated and thats where its coming from. But youre right, theres a "jumpiness". I do think my general lifestyle (many hours of programming) primes my brain for a ce

Yes. Going from sober -> drunk does not remove my somewhat autist analytical bent. Being hungover, my brain is moving alot slower, less detailed, etc.

Call me crazy, but as a highly analytical person that has spent 70% of my waking hours in the last five years working on something technical, my social skills are best when I'm hungover. The logical analytical side of me is diminished

Sure, a great team lead can boost productivity of other engineers. But you dont end up with world changing products that way, you just end up completing some incremental project on time. Probably alot of the core innovations at OpenAI were

No even on a highly paid team of engineers making 250-400k, half of them are actively producing technical debt. One good engineer can replace 2, and then leave the code base simpler and more maintainable.

The unfortunate reality is that those elite circles usually do have the best among them. And having worked in FAANGs, there is some aspect of meritocracy, the code doesnt lie
