Yeah, my workaround in a situation like that is to open all. Then close, restart and click restore session. It only loads the active page, not all.

I think this behavior should be linked with the "Make new tabs have the current focus when opened" option. So if that is not set, and the new tab does not appear, then Firefox should not load. In the devs defense, the inconsistent

Yes I agree, but installing tortoise GIT and then looking at what commands are available on the menus is a great way to focus learning when you don't know whats to learn yet.

Yes but I have found that if you "open in new tab" then it loads the page even though it is in the background. It should do as it does as startup but doesn't.

Sorry - yes Slashdot. It is awful nowadays, but I started there. Somebody should tell them.

I second that. HN is good for that reason and also the lack of half page ads on another popular website SD.

If you study all your life for something, you want it kept held close to you as possible until "the right time" to extract maximum benefit/glory/$$$/fame etc. Wouldn't you?

Stack overflow may offer lots of fancy features, but, in my opinion, the essence of what they do should be easily achievable by any competent group of engineers. Genuine question - I don't get it, what does this bring to the table? A v

In my opinion, this is a tactic used when a company has less than maximum confidence in the product and want to test the water. Ie. It could be a great success and they will charge you $$$, or a complete failure and they will drop the produ

Thanks for the info! I'm no Vulkan expert. I'm coming from OpenGL, hoping that Vulkan will make things better eg at allowing the app to manage GPU memory explicitly to suit the application use-case. Agreed, reliable was the wrong

Vulkan is not just about performance - it increases reliability. If you have ever attempted the hopelessly frustrating task of trying to manage GPU memory from an OpenGl application in a consistent manner, then you will have felt the pain c

I agree that this scatter based approach to learning works very well for me, mainly because I am always interested in what I am learning. This approach also works for narrow scope based topics, by "flitting" between resources (int

True. My point was that people spend a considerable amount of energy/time going to work, so might as well "apply" oneself. Not sure if that's what you mean by glory. But the two are usually linked.

Not sure I understand this motivation. If I smashed up a lego tower, would you have more fun patching up my tower, or instead you can create a "better" new one all by yourself?
