I totally agree. I'm a 3. Whilst no job is safe, we are always "first to go", so the 1.5-2x rate is not for nothing.

This is very true. Like most things in life, we get what we pay for - usually. It's the difference between an engineer and a "code slinger".

I'm confused. Is this an invite to request a license for something that I know almost nothing about, even from reading the web site? It's clear that it is a library that renders text. But what is it? E.g. a C++ library?

I think the comment was saying 2 things: its bad because we loose GIF auto play facility and its bad because we will still have ads via GIFs. So basically, its a no win move for the consumer. However, my response would be to that would be:

I totally agree. However, it is to be expected, when we first abstract up to get convenience and then using that platform, abstract back down to get performance. We end up with a FrankenMonster of an application, that has a cobbled together

I agree because I hate the pain of debugging. I disagree because if something takes that away, then where is the skill in my work?

Even if this was actually possible to do without compromising our security, it would not achieve anything as the bad guys will just use alternative methods to achieve their goals. End game: Society will be none the safer, and the government

Off course you are right, but welcome to the real world. The only reason it was not done before, was that it was not feasible.

The super rich have a very big problem. How to maintain the status quo? If you cannot appease the general public, there will be revolution, and the rich will not stay rich for long. But how to appease them? Offer them a vote, create the con

"I once inherited a fairly large c++ application that could only be built on THE dev box, or a copy of it. Only one old timer understood it, it was his meal ticket, and he wasn't talking. It used auto tools so I converted it to cm

I agree with all of this and I think there is a third category of job where is software is neither the main business, nor IT. Once you have developed the necessary software skills in a "software house", in my experience, the best

Yes I am always amazed at this because this should be a natural conclusion to any right minded person who reads the words "pro".

Great business model if you ask me. Hardware requires refreshing more often than software.

Yes but the MacOS operating system is becoming more and more dumbed down in the UI experience, which nullifies most of the "its got a good UI" argument.

Its like your favorite color, in that there is no "right" answer, and it all depends on your perspective and person. I tried to illustrate that, by giving you an example of an "if it were" me scenario.

It would be foolhardy for humanity to have confidence in something it knows nothing about. There are some areas which should never be touched, and this is one of them. I don't mean to sound heartless to those who suffer (parents too) h

Rights for parent is one thing, but what about my rights to live in a world defined by nature, not humans? I don't want my genetic heritage to be polluted with this kind of meddling.
