Like those right-click pop ups you used to get to prevent you copying images. We've come full circle. Only this time it's a large profitable company rather than some random Geocities page.

Or perhaps if literally anyone can make a great product, then the true successes will be either those are genuinely innovative, disruptive and have first mover advantage, or those that are one of many but gain better adoption through better

Obligatory "front end is a mess" comment. I taught at a bootcamp for 6 months, it was a great experience but when we moved on to react after vanilla JS the amount of incidental complexity was a huge step up, even with create-react

I'm thinking more from the point where your tax issue isn't resolved and you have no recourse at all, because the AI has final say. Your cancer is undiagnosed because there is an issue with the AI. You can't get a second opin

When the AI figures out what articles it should write to maximise whatever metric it is aiming for, that is worse than we have now. When it can also generate "real" images and video to go along with the article, and perhaps artifi

Genuinely surprised by the positive reaction about how exciting this all is. You ever had to phone a large business to try and sort something out, like maybe a banking error, and been stuck going through some nonsense voice recognition menu

It's infuriating. Comes across as patronising, like Apple assuming the concept of a disk represented a tree of folders and files, and I am currently viewing a specific position in that tree, is too complex for me to understand.

I feel like I may be the only developer that prefers Windows to MacOs. I really, really just do not get the "Mac Experience". It feels so clunky and counter intuitive. - Why does the alt tab equivalent cycle through applications f

Obligatory Godot shout out which unlike Unity had has "native" 2D support and is a pleasure to work in.

A bit odd, but I love the Redis docs. The list of commands, going through each of them and reading the implementation details and possible use cases. I am not as up to speed since the RedisLabs sponsorship, but Redis as a whole used to feel

Having been a Google reject, I thought this too. But I think there is a now almost an entire field of engineering which is "learn to get a FAANG job" which if you apply yourself too anyone get probably get in given enough time.

I think the URL is arbitrary and doesn't even need to be a URL. For example, you could just use "Google".

I have sympathy with the author of course but they come across as very naive. Of course this is how large corps work, they demean their employees, intentionally instilling fear and doubt through these ridiculous performance appraisal system

Hard agree. IME this type of stuff is almost always the extrovert types getting carried away and failing to realise not everyone comfortable with such things.

I had the Game Genie. Young me had no idea how it worked, but I sort of had an intuitive guess when I entered some random codes in and mario level 1 suddenly became full of random bits of pixels you could climb up and jump around on. Amazin

This looks really interesting and seems like it would offer a similar programming model to node/go/etc. Will check it out, thanks.

Used PHP for many years for high volume web applications. My biggest gripe is you (at least had to) run php behind another server (nginx, Apache) which meant your "scope" is always restricted to serving the current request. If you
