It is not written in Go. Go was only used to bootstrap the first compiler. Newer compiler versions are written in V itself.

While it looks nice, it brags about it's compilation speed while simultaneously not offering any optimizations. If you want to have optimizations, C/C++ source-to-source compilation is required, which is slower by factor of 10. A

Solvers for linear and differential equations are very interesting. Look at geometric multigrid or asymmetric grid solvers. Graph processing, sorting and histograms can also be very interesting. Ray Tracing is also a classic application.
