Sort of, but there is a grey area between what people think they need and what the NHS thinks is necessary. My mum is a head nurse and has to fill out a 10+ page assessment of the patient's needs which determines what level of at-home care

My friend's sole trading business has an 0845 number which goes straight to voicemail. On day, he started to receive truly heartbreaking messages of financial hardship, people unable to pay medical bills for their parents, that kind of thin

Obviously you guys were a good fit for YC, both in terms of culture and ability. What I wonder is, what percentage of applications are completely unsuitable for YC? What percentage of applications can basically be ruled out as competition?

I worked with a guy (I won't name the company) who wrote Java code in one, huge, static class as much as possible. In fact, everything was largely in one function too. He decided to name his fields alphabetically. static int a static int b

One Core i7 box with 8GB ram and a second database slave (for replication) with only 1GB of ram. I was running node.js, mongodb and redis all on the same box. I believe it could have handled a lot more, because it wasn't really breaking a s

I think this is fast becoming a stack of sorts - I just used it on an app and it scaled to 400 concurrent users beautifully.

I agree 100% on the pricing. You may have your reasons, but whatever they are, an extra $50 is not enough. Perhaps you've found that real estate agents don't like metered pricing. That's cool, but I think you need to develop some kind of va

Because there is little benefit to the economy if we just dream up ideas with no intention of implementing them, and then sell (for millions of dollars it seems) a piece of paper preventing other people from implementing the idea. I don't a

Specifically, Windows actually checked whether SimCity was running and then allocated memory differently if it was. Joel Spolsky talks about it in this old article: http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000054.html

Oh! I think it's because I'm using the 'chromeless' YouTube player, not very usable. Double click for full screen, single click for play and pause. I'll fix that, thanks for the heads up.

I assume that when you block a site, Google are sent the search term as well as the site you blocked. Assuming that this is the case, it isn't very helpful to search for 'mahalo.com' and then block mahalo.com. What do you think should rank
