The last time I saw support for it still there, the IM stuff would open in a separate, old-looking window from the Messages window. Basically, they kept the old code and just built a new version parallel to it, then eventually took out the

I paid for Duet and am excited to never have to use it again. It's caused tons of weird display and graphics driver issues and from the small amount of sidecar I've used in the beta, I can tell it's a lot better.

Apple Watches can be used to unlock MacBooks and are immune to relay attacks like these because the laptop only accepts signals with a small enough roundtrip latency. Due to the speed of light, it's impossible to unlock it from farther

Definitely a breath of fresh air that someone's still trying to do super-resolution without neural networks. This example shows that at the moment, it can still be better and MUCH faster to use classical CV techniques for certain appli

Yep, this is just a bad excuse for not spending the effort to port it. I'm not saying they have to port it, but a simple "it isn't worth the money" would be better.

And make everyone's health history public? Why couldn't the government do something similar but with more privacy?

Exactly. I use a modern editor whenever I'm working on one of my main computers, and the only time I use vim is when I'm working on a remote server and can't mount the drive remotely (or where mounting would just be a pain).

So far it's been the best option for me when it comes to getting work done efficiently without banging my head against a wall. What would you recommend? Most of the developers I know have no shame and can't be peer pressured, and

That's intentional. The most successful fishing emails, sketchy ads, etc are obviously bad to anyone savvy. They design it so that only computer illiterate people end up falling for it, as they have no chance of fixing the problem them

I have a Vive and might go for the Index at some point down the line when I have a better PC, and there was one thing about this article that annoyed me (otherwise great though). I see lighthouses as possibly the best way to do spatial trac

Can someone explain what they mean by asymmetric magnets? I know that one pole can be weaker, but it also must be a greater size to balance out the flux. Is this what they mean? It's kind of misleading as they imply that they can creat

2030 isn't that far away. Do you think we could automate more than 2M jobs/year for the next 10 years? I kinda doubt it.

It's Google's fingerprinting for tracking you across the web. It won't actually listen to or play anything, it just opens it up to see if it's there.

Everyone knows nicotine is addictive, not everyone knows how much nicotine they are ingesting when they vape as you can take in much more way faster than you can by smoking.

You can get zero nicotine, but not everyone does. I know a few people who accidentally got themselves addicted to nicotine by vaping too much without really thinking of the consequences.

I get that everyone smoking is way worse than everyone vaping, but nowadays smoking (cigarettes) isn't popular at all. Even without vaping claiming some of the would-be smokers, I doubt a significant portion of my generation would smok

Anecdotally, I (as a college student) know more than 20x the number of people who vape than people who smoke. Smoking is bad, but vaping is becoming incredibly mainstream with young people to the point where it's a bigger health risk.

Why do you do that? All Apple devices generate randomized MAC addresses for networks that they haven't connected to, so they shouldn't be able to track you. In addition, no other actors will be able to gain useful information from
