Is China really selling solar panels at below the cost of production? There seem to be a number of Germans making this claim, but the article never really tries to analyze whether this is true or not. It seems like a big difference whether

It seems like a detail but I think it's a shame that this screen shows browsers in a randomized order. It rewards the janky browsers that will never be large but get above the threshold (like this Opera browser) and then use this boost

Physics academia has the same problem. Maybe worse. In some physics subfields, postdocs are just writing Python code most of the day. There's a lot of financial incentive for the best ones to simply ditch physics.

Yeah, this is also good for donors. When you donate money to a professor's work through a university, the university ends up taking maybe a 30% cut. But if you donate to some independent institute that's controlled by the same pro

Sell build-related services to companies. Imagine GitHub Actions, but it's cleanly built into your Python tooling in some reasonable way, so it's just the natural thing to use. I think it's pretty straightforward, although we

6.8% seems like a pretty reasonable target for non-regrettable attrition. GE famously aimed at firing the bottom 10% of performers every year. In Facebook engineering management the internal target was 6% IIRC. It feels a bit paradoxical be
