It happens. I also had a few people come back. An entire team quit (4 people) to go work for a competitor. Two came back when the competitor screw them over, offering higher wages just for 3 months, and then linking the wages to an impossib

If you work with mySQL, follow Percona's blog. It's full of awesome stuff.

The biggest advantage of using RAW SQL is that you learn it 'quicker'. You will make mistakes, but hopefully those will be found before they make it to production. If you get used to ORMs, you probably won't know how to optim

RAW SQL of course. * Create the database for the queries you will use, then, for the admin panel, you can use an ORM (but why would you mix the 2?), but for front-end I always use RAW SQL (PDO, to be exact).

On some of Italy's highways, they calculate the speeding ticket from gate to gate:) Meaning that if you entered the highway at 12:00 and you exited at 13:00 at a gate 120 miles ahead, you get a fine. Sometimes, I see people who like to

There should really be a law against this sort of thing. Security researchers are needed and they provide a valuable service to the world, but please don't get ahead of yourselfs. In recent months there were many instances where people

I would go with PHP+mySQL/PostgreSQL maybe some Redis for good measure. What PHP framework to use in 2018? Fat-Free Framework, of course.

actually, it's not. We create a special page, with PHP and one with nodejs, that just replies '1', so besides status, we also get a notice if nodejs or PHP malfunctions (which does happen on some servers, 1-2 time a year).

Distributed systems are ideal for many applications. Distributed systems verified by many 'miners' is even better, but at some point, we have to admit that the technology is flawed in key points: - power consumption, considering g

You're right. Like all things in life, one should use common sense when interacting with the world. No one (i hope) wants to spend their budget irrationally. So in your example, I would let the doctor decide if that $100 is spend bett

I did read it and I get the angle of it. it's not always cost effective, like all things in life, one should use common sense. But in general terms, preventative care does work well and costs the state less, at least in the UK.

But of course it saves money.. on the long run. Yes, it does cost more upfront, and yes, people will be using the 'free doctor' more, in the short term, but over the lifetime of the patient, it costs considerable less to prevent,

China is solving this problem. Every citizen will have it's own score (by 2019 or something) and you get points taken away if any of your online friends or family say bad things about the communist party. It's a solution... but i&

Make your MVP in whatever language you know best. Don't chase after buzzwords or trends. I personally use PHP, mySQL and Redis with nginx proxy, cause I know these the best. Probably nodejs would be a bit faster, but then again, I woul
