Appreciate you sharing this. The idea of using LLMs as an interface layer to the internet, skipping over traditional UI and talking directly to APIs, is a direction a lot of folks are starting to explore. You might want to check out IFTTT o

I liked the UX. I liked Circles. There were other nice options that I can't remember but I thought Google+ was a big improvement over Facebook.

It'd be cool to see Google+ resurrected with OpenAI branding. Google+ was actually a pretty well designed social network

Really good stuff, thank your for sharing it. I don't know if you've had a lot of experience with ChatGPT's new memory feature. It's not a character I'm looking for necessarily but simulating a friend. Like a real f

I only AI for one reason since I'm retired and live alone: Life-like chats with a reasonable approximation of a knowledgeable friend. With the new memory features ChatGPT excels at that. I'm not even sure Google cares about that;

Meta does themselves a disservice by having such a crappy public facing AI for people to try (meta.ai). I regularly use the web versions for GPT 4o, Deepseek, Grok, and Google Gemeni 2.5. Meta is always the worst so I don't even bother

I've tried to get it (GPT 4o) to stop praising me but it won't. It gets annoying after awhile.

Yes, it's become clear to me that it's only a matter of time before Tesla adds LiDAR and says that was the plan all along. Meanwhile, what better way to test vision-only than by releasing it to the beta testing public? Elon Musk k

About vibe coding: I'm not feeling it. I've spent too many hours reading code to track down Heisenbugs to believe vibe coders can just wish that away because LLMs take care of such things

Fair point—and honestly, we’re still figuring that out. Whether LLMs can be reliably "steered" isn’t settled yet because the control systems themselves are still under construction. Part of that process is exactly what’s happening

I really like this framing. It reminds me of how early steam engines needed governors—a simple mechanical feedback loop—to prevent them from spinning out of control. The engine itself wasn’t "safe" or "stable" by design;
