It's not inherently a zero-sum game. It's just that the rich are doing everything in their power to capture all the surplus, which makes it feel like a zero-sum game for the rest of us.

I wish I had known more about the legacy tech stack I'm working with, when I was interviewing. I would have still taken the job but it would have been nice to know about the extent of the COBOL horrors ahead of time in order to mentall

As far as I know, you can't yet compile Rust to Javascript. I don't see why not--Rust uses LLVM as a backend, and LLVM bytecode can compile to Javascript with emscripten. Although, I don't really see why you would want to,

Windows locks executable files and dells while they are being used, so it's not possible for an installer to overwrite them Exactly, and Linux doesn't do that, hence my comment. The Windows model is flawed--why do you need to lo

Well, now the different classes inside your application are more loosely coupled, but your business logic is more tightly coupled to a DI framework.

For example, if an instance of House requires a Door it is not enough to just require('Door'). You still have to do the equivalent of `new Door()` in your House module to get an instance. By doing so within the House module you j

That's because it's a higher-level abstraction than other web frameworks. Ripping out a layer and dropping down to a lower level of abstraction is always going to be a lot of work.

Yeah, I can't help but think we've reinvented the wheel. Modern dynamic languages like Ruby, Python, JS, Clojure, are just now catching up to the state-of-the-art that Smalltalk achieved in the 1980s.
