Interesting how it first tells you that Forever Project is not about setting goals, while truly pursuing the goal of learning. This becomes especially clear in the end, when polishing is criticized. If there is a goal (learning new things

There are many safe programming languages that do not rely on extra safety features of the hardware. Calling it "false promise that will be exploited and unfixable" is not supported by the evidence. That is to say, WebGPU is worki

Today, one of the main drivers of WGSL/Tint is David Neto - the former SPIR-V WG chair. We know very well the problems we are facing, it's not the ignorance.

We've been trying to design a safe and portable language in WebGPU (called WGSL), but it turns out to be really hard. For example, subgroup ops discussion [1] so far concluded that even the most limited form still has portability conce

There is nothing wrong with gfx-hal. I care deeply about it, and wgpu implementation is based on top. It's just for users who need portability and performance, while Ash gives you close to raw access to Vukan.

Ok, in this case, I think the situation is fairly good. De-facto standard for raw Vulkan in Rust is Ash [1], and raw GL can be worked with GL-rs [2]. It's when you go higher levels where things start diverging more. [1] https:

Firefox is the product of Mozilla mission. But mission is larger than just a browser. I'd love to see it extend to trusted email services and search engines, for example, but this requires a lot of engineering. If I understand this rig

I haven't paid attention to the yearly goals, but the story you are telling is quite believable (and also sad). To me it sounds like a disconnect between people who do planning and people who implement things. Thank you for sharing!

This is magnificent, thank you for the link! Interestingly, Argdown appears to use a different model: it has statements and arguments, where IBIS has issues, positions, and arguments.
