The cognitive dissonance your comment created reaped undeserved downvotes. It's a legitimate concern: massive amounts of money fund these ventures and massive amounts of money in turn get guaranteed to the concerns which funded the ven

Try to understand as much as possible and make your call that way. Most of the scientific questions in this world don't require you to have an opinion (I don't much care which rocket fuel is better; I'll let others argue over

I think the american paradigm of "going out on your own" at 18 and not starting a family until you have had a career is what fuels this psychological damage. Immigrant types with big families seemed to not have this problem and ar

That's because, in a democracy, the incentives aren't to fix problems, but to create more so that you can continue to 'solve' them forever. This is exasperated by the obvious bribes that get flung around in the form of s

That's been my experience as well. I see zero value for phd's in my field. I'd rather train up a high school graduate: the high school graduate will take as long to train in most cases.

Funnily enough, I am for vaccines just as I am for mandatory weight loss across the entire population. Banning all unhealthy activities is a given.

I know of several people who purposefully went to get the virus in the early stages of 2020: I don't think your worry is very far off the mark at all.

I think everyone should get the vaccine, but this is the kind of comment that births brand new skeptics.

I'm in your camp: the problem is the people we rely on as experts are said to be lying/wrong/stupid/evil/devils/.etc by the people against the positions they hold. How do you fight that kind of thing?

Highly suspect: I heard that they count anyone without three jabs as "unvaccinated." that might not be israel and it might be two jabs, apologies on unreliability. I'm putting this out here because I hope someone can disprove

I believe everyone should be vaccinated but your point worries me. This doesn't seem 'right.' I don't believe in conspiracy theories of people pushing anti vaccination propaganda just to bring this state of affairs about

I take issue with this comparison: just because the prior 'experiments' have been failures does not mean that future efforts which utilize entirely different methods will be. The war on drugs was already highly criticized for its

I'm not sure that's the case: the iceland, malta, and israel results (very highly vaccinated population) are worrying in the extreme; take a look and see if you agree that transmission might actually be worse. As to why that is, p

That's not true: people in the peanut gallery can be swayed. sub-midwits like myself only form opinions based on what smarter people have convinced us about areas we're not experts on.

Well said, but I think the problem we're fighting is that people don't view these as vaccines so much as preventive treatment now. The Israel, Malta, and Iceland cases with very high vaccination rates and growing number of hospita

We'll hem and haw about it, but you're right that we won't do anything. Is it a cosmic injustice worthy of the guillotine for every president and official that has presided over it? Absolutely, but that's the thing with

I remember reading as a kid that this is the kind of thing that an evil empire does. Now that I realize that evil empire is us, I don't understand how anyone can justify this horror show.

This argument implies that we should start mandating mandatory weight loss for the obese. The vaccine is about protecting other people, not hospital space.

High school historian perspective: I don't know; compare their conquest to the greek's. Greek civilians thought of Rome as "the light of the world," even though their wealth was used in much the same way.
