I like VSCode but also agree. Once you've felt the speed of native, like Sublime Text 3, especially when opening and working with a lot of files at once, it's really hard to use anything else, IMHO That said, there are use cases f

Actually, you know, I'm going to pull back on my original post a bit. I didn't realize they were using a $500+ Optane drive in here and not in some of the other systems they compared to... that does inflate the price quite a bit.

I don't know what it is about the 95, 98, 2000 era of Windows UI and aesthetics but I still strongly prefer it.

I would think that one would typically expect NAS drives in particular not to use SMR, especially since SMR is known to be problematic in RAID setups, etc. Not to mention the write performance issues. It's so frustrating that all t

Agree! Caves of Qud is quite fun. It can be difficult, so I often turn off permadeath just so I can wander around and enjoy the crazy worlds it has to offer on each run Very neat what it has done with ASCII-style interface too

Another Gordon Kelly masterpiece. His articles are very sensationalist and they all fall in this same kind of "anger at computer company" template. I agree however that local search should never be so coupled with non-local search

I think things have changed some with using OpenCore now instead of the older system. It does take more initial setup but from what I've heard it's a bit more resilient when it comes to updates. I'd still be scared of an upda

As an iMac user for years, I've lately considered the idea of either a hackintosh or just giving up on MacOS completely. I'm ready to upgrade to a new Apple desktop, and none of the options are even remotely enticing for the amoun

I will have an occasional bout of constant back pain triggered by some action (sitting down the wrong way, sleeping the wrong way, bending the wrong way) that will last 1-2 weeks, then it will go away 100% and I'll be back to normal. I

IMHO, the biggest problem SE has had this entire time and continues to have throughout all of these various issues (abrupt relicensing, community moderator firing, etc) is that there is constant zero transparency . Even the times they do r

Proper and adequate sleep is also an important part of weight loss, so I find it naive to only attempt to fix the weight issue. It's a vicious catch-22 to not be able to breathe enough to sleep well enough to lose weight so that one ca
