I really don't like HTML emails as they very often break with my dark theme. Especially those in Outlook, dark blue on dark gray is not very visible. I'd like to have only plain text emails, but some website do not put text versio

I took the harsh route. I sent an email to all my contacts saying that I was on matrix and/or email and would not be on whatsapp anymore. It's a bit sudden and most of my contact will never message me again, but I'm fine with

Phoenix live view was a game changer for me. Never been happier for web dev. I use it with tailwindcss.

I have some unifi camera and unified video on a Linux box, and they are phasing out unified video. I don't want to move to the cloud offering. Is there a way to use the hardware with open source software?

What I do is buy localme.xyz and get a wildcard cert via DNS validation. This way you get SSL for offline devices. But you need to update the cert periodically.

I have many customers who are stuck with CC for Acrobat. It seems to be the only full featured PDF editing program.

I think you need the .kz, if you don't, I can officially say that I am out of the tech game and need to go grow potatoes.

I understand the author points, and the article is well written. But, I moved to tailwind for different projects and now I use it nearly exclusively. I don't want to argue whenever it is good or bad, but it solves my problems. When you

RPN is a lot like vim, the first time you are like DUH! I can't add 2 and 2. But if you take the learning curve, it becomes very efficient and you cannot move back.

When I switched from Mac to Linux a few years back, I also had this issue. My solution was radical, I switched to i3 and configured many, many customized shortcuts. Having to "re-learn" nearly everything made it easier because I w

I am not saying electricity is bad for heating. But it is surprising to me. It is "illegal" here, but honnestly I don't have an opinion or an objective view on it.

I am always amazed that some countries allow electricity for heating. Here it is mostly geothermal, solar, gas or oil (the last two being phased out). There are also a lot of cities with distant heating, for example, here, the garbage facto

I think the most important factor is not really screen resolution or size, but "cursor precision". I'm fine with HN on mobile, but it is really hard to press the buttons with my large fingers on a mobile screen. But much easi

I have enormous respect for VLC and what it brought to video in general. But, recently I have been using mpv because I love how snappy it is, especially when seeking with the mouse wheel.

I use element/matrix because I don't want to need a phone to use signal. But signal seems to be the most "migrated to" alternative.

I am working on SAAS, and I want to open source the codebase. But I'd like to avoid a big commercial entity to run my software as a competitive service. What is the best license to use for this use case? I want to allow as many uses of

About QR code, isn't that the sort of thing that would be super more efficient to do in hardware at the camera chip level? This makes me think that it would be nice to be able too load "camera sensor scripts" in a similar way

We have a fallback coax connection going another way, it's only 500Mb/100Mb/s but it does the job if the fiber is cut. We are also working on having a 5G fallback just in case, as 5G bandwidth can be quite high on short range

With the price of pro fiber (redundant with SLA) I recently moved some apps back to our own servers in house. This did cut the price down dramatically. I would not recommend it for super critical apps (except if you have your own state of t
