It is fine. I have been using an "old" canon EOS 1000 for a few years now. But I use an HDMI capture card with magic lantern running on the camera to get a clean HDMI feed.

ISP email are an important factor on why email federation still work. But not all ISP are evil, here we have a lot of city operated ISP with free minimal service.

A matrix based solution could be cool. With phone number as identifier and home servers hosted by carrier, this way it's not too centralized.

I love zig but I have two pain points. Function naming convention as camelCase. I can overlook that and use snake_case in my code, which I do and people frown upon me. Second is inability to turn unused var check off.

I just moved from fastmail to self hosted and it works with no email blocked so far. Had that setup for 6 months. The most important point being sure to have a static IP with reverse DNS.

I think the part before the @ is actually case sensitive per RFC, but most mail server will treat it case insensitive. But I am not sure I am reading the RFC correctly, citation: Verbs and argument values (e.g., "TO:" or "to:

I use adaway which simply replace the /etc/hosts file, but requires root. I consider a phone a paperweight if I cannot have root on it, but I realize this might be different for other users.

While I am a big proponent of open source, a few are not good enough yet. The most important one being CAD. No CAD is good enough for serious mechanical engineering except commercial ones. The creative software (GIMP, inkscape) can replace

Yes I think matrix will get there. The issue is complicated because most people just want to use their phone number, while I (and other tech people) want an account we can use without my phone. There is also contact import/sync, data b

I was speaking for business lines/contract. They usually have actual support with SLA. Residential is a lottery but local (public owned in a small village) will usually care.

For about 4 years I have considered IPv6 first and IPv4 second. If IPv6 has an issue, I consider the service down, not just half down or slightly non operational. If I call an ISP for an IPv6 issue, I say "internet is down" even i

IPX worked very well for LAN games, it required no configuration. Compared to how difficult it is to play together now (steam friends. xbox...), it was much better. Of course it had drawbacks, but for that it was great.
