As a customer, I hate chatbots. They make it harder to look up information, mainly because one has to guess the correct keywords to trigger the wanted answer. I prefer any other UI over chatbots. But since you are now into chatbots, here is

The ironic thing about Semantic UI is that the HTML code is the contrary of (the classical textbook definition of) semantic. It looks more like 90s font tags.

This is a great achievement for a student within such a short amount of time. I guess kudos to the supervisors for providing these finely-tuned setups (simple PDEs, suitable intial data and guidance how to plot and show the essential data,

XUL (Mozillas XML-based widgets) or JWS (Java WebStart) seem dead, but I don't know why. They could provide exactly what you ask for -- zero install rich interfaces with better performance then HTML-based ones.

On a general level, what about broadcasting? This is (was) standard in SoHo ethernet networks for service discovery (also used on higher levels such as Bonjour/Avahi).

I can't help myself, but for me this idea of "functional CSS" stands again the idea of cascading stylesheets. I cannot follow the criticism on semantic markup, because there's nothing bad about semantic, precise markup,

I also observe a renaissance of command line interfaces. I guess it's a trend in a similar way how the graphical user interface (in the MS Windows/OS X/X11 way) has been trendy in the 1990s/early 2000s. Remember that App

Nope, I guess this is a Linux or at least platform-independent command line interface program. You are probably confused by the powershell which seems to be available for multiple platforms nowadays, see https://aka.ms/pscor

Besides all kind of data science/machine learning, what about learning the "greybeard" mastering of Unix servers? This will connect a lot of old-grown idioms (think about daemons, classical TCP services, etc.) and get you a l

Python 3 vs Python 2 is easily answered: The differences are subtle (there are concise lists of differences), you can apply any old tutorial/book/Ressource and for instance mostly have to ensure to type print(foo) instead of print

Actually it's quite a shame for the Gitlab team that they don't offer a similar official CLI. The gitlab software is high quality in general, and obviously it's doable by a third party to implement such a tool.

Can somebody explain this word juggling for a non-native speaker? Wikipedia in my mother tongue explains "firm" coming from "solid/tight/strong" ( https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firmware ).

We do semantic highlighting, it is called "markup", such as italic, bold or underlined text. This idea is much older then syntax highlighting and I would guess it's where computer language highlighting originates from.

Here's a thing: Coming from a world of Perl, PHP, Ruby, Bash, BASIC, batch etc. scripts, a main function is not neccessary at all. The procedural code just starts from the first line. With this in mind, it is weird to even ask for a ma

As a developer, you can copy the CSS 1:1. Of course you won't get better then the original, but if you invest a lot of work (for all the corner cases), you'll get very close to a identical copy. And you can use your copy as a temp

Especially blocking modals (which both stop your code and the user) are a damned easy way to interact with the user in most programming languages. Nothing is easier then to write alert("foo") or if(confirm("are you sure?"

I've seen this software since it's advent in Windows vista, but I could never ever do anything useful with it. It could not even take a simple TWAIN scan. And if it did, it was impossible to export the image in a suitable format.

For all the people who complain about telnet: If it would use Unix domain sockets, the whole system would rebuild what you can do with ordinary stdin/stdout and GNU screen or tmux. I think the network transparency is a feature of this
