I'm working on my startup and I absolutely love it. Much better then a postdoc in literally an way. I am my own boss, get 2-5 times the salary compared to academia and I do similar science but on a much broader sense. I would encourage every helpless finished PhD to look into academia spin-offs. Edit: of course this also applies on finished Master studies in STEM.
