I also know of such an organization. David Fahrenthold did some good reporting on it in the last several months. The bad press doesn't seem to have done it any harm.

Yet again I ponder the mysteries of how things make it to the front page, and why there is no downvote button on articles. Although it's always good to have a reaffirmation of why I write software instead of trying to use that master&#

I agree. It would be great if as a society we handled social media (and other addictive experiences) the same way we handle drugs and gambling: adults only, know your limits, here's help getting clean. Instead we have kids obsessively

This article reads very much like me, a non-drinker, telling you why you shouldn't drink. I've never tried alcohol, but I've heard plenty of bad things about it, and here's a list of them! It's addictive, you know!

Washington state does all its voting by mail now, which is good in a way because it means all the ballots are on paper and subject to verification, but it's vulnerable to all the voter influence problems you just listed. (It also reduc

I'm absolutely a free-range parent. My kids have the same freedom I had in the 80s to play outside with friends and roam the neighborhood and walk to the store. But come on, man. If I had wandered out on the roof at the age of 5, my pa

It depends on the restaurant. At a steakhouse, for example, you'll commonly see quite large portions. There was a 24 oz prime rib on the menu at the steakhouse I visited last week.

You may be correct, but without any research to back it up, this reads very much like a statement of religious faith.

Treatments other than mindfulness training are not simply a "bandaid." CBT is the gold standard, for example, and countless thousands of people have found it alleviates their anxiety without their ever even learning what "exi

Figuring this pre-tax isn't very useful. If you were in the (theoretical) 70% tax bracket and you spent 30% of your pre-tax income on housing, you'd starve.
