It’s the same as saying Naver (SK Google), or Weibo (Chinese Twitter), and so on. They’re primarily used by their local residents, and have little traction outside, despite having millions of active users. Giving a clarification makes it a

I’m not sure what you mean by “entire stack” when it comes to mobile development, especially with iOS. If you want to target >85% of all devices, you aim for iOS current version - 1, then Swift and xCode your way into AppStore. I am obvi

I generally agree with you, but on the other side of the coin, if you follow the processes they’re forcing on you… it’s pretty seamless. Sometimes it’s a bit buggy when they release new APIs or versions of tooling, but given the amount of p

It’s literally the first time I’ve heard anyone saying this about Denmark. I’ve been to a ton of places, including Denmark, and can’t even understand why would you have such opinion. Care to explain?

I have a strange feeling that a vast majority of people will throw in the towel rather than “work forever” once retirement isn’t an option.

I think it depends what you’re looking for. You won’t go and find friends in a Japanese bar, like you could in some parts of US or LATAM. But I don’t think I’ve seen more “quiet slice of life” happening while strolling around Japan, Taiwan

Oh, I totally agree about the stroads, I wish we could somehow make them disappear, alas impossible. They’re doing an ok job densifying some parts of them, so it’s less dead at least.

I live in Vancouver, and absolutely love how we didn’t go with the freeway idea. And traffic will suck anyways, might as well let the locals enjoy the walks and life instead.

To each their own. I've heard second hand accounts for all kind of scenarios - parents regretting their decisions in their 30s, extremely happy parents, childless extremely happy couples in their 50s, and some with their regrets. That

I still don't understand how the opportunity cost can be 0 for the rich. Women still have to get pregnant, and sacrifice a lot of things at the cost of 1 year per kid. Like sure, they'll have nannies, but the years of "when y

Can you elaborate on that? Every statistic I've seen so far looked like even "the filthy rich" don't have enough kids. Obviously you'll get some exceptions that are talked again and again on the media, but that'

Upper-middle and upper class aren't having children either though, so my bet is on the latter side of your argument. Huge opportunity costs for having kids before your mid 30s, and afterwards, it's a bit late to have more than a c

How sound is this argument? It doesn’t pass my smell test as from what I recall 25+ years ago, some of my friends didn’t have siblings. Yet we ran around up until the street lights were on. Looking at people with children in my circles righ

Absolutely agreed. I do think it will go the Argentina way if/when we start mass banning imports of Chinese consumer tech. Well, unless, as you mentioned we start heavily investing and encouraging local competition. I guess, time will

Yeah it sucks. We’re trying to play catch up game for manufacturing industry, but it’s abysmally hard to get it going. I don’t think we can easily pour down money and the talent and processes would just reappear in a couple of years either.

The problem is, Chinese consumer tech is full of extremely competitive and cut-throat companies. Some countries don’t like how their government is giving a tons of subsidies for them to progress like crazy (see BYD in 2012 vs now), but they

I really don’t understand this post. You can obviously have both? Like it’s very super-duper obvious how you can just live in a city and don’t use your car at all, but drive out to get outside of the city. I live in Vancouver, I go to Costc

That analogy doesn’t work for art, since worker’s ditch is result based. There are no feelings like “i like this ditch”, “experience of a ditch” or “i’m curious how this ditch was dug”. Again, i’m not saying buying a mass made AI art will b

That’s totally fine, everyone’s definition of art is subjective. But general value of an art as a piece will just still be zero for AI generated ones, just like any IKEA / Amazon print piece. You just pay for the “looks pretty”, frame

In terms of art, population tends to put value not on the result, but origin and process. People will just look down on any art that’s AI generated in a couple of years when it becomes ubiquitous.

Honestly, any smart TV connected to Apple TV is fine. You can skip the wifi enablement on your TV and will never think of the bloatware in your life. Been with that setup for 5+ years, have absolutely zero complaints about my “smart TV” for
