Please don't call it "Obamacare".

Don't finish it.

I agree with the way you describe the lock-in, of course that's the whole point of any closed network. But I disagree as far as the phenomena not being unique to Facebook. While grandma might have been on AOL, to her it was just the way to

"We will move on, just as we did from the chat rooms of AOL, without even looking back. When the place is as ethereal as a website, our allegiance is much more abstract than it is to a local pub or gym." I disagree with this, simply because

I have an HP mini110 that runs Windows 7 32-bit. I got it as a gift this Christmas and I remember thinking "oh boy, let's see how this thing runs". But it does just fine. I mean it's no speed demon, but for the limited purpose of the form f

This looks like a software-based system to manage IP, sensational headline notwithstanding.

That would be a good idea, but they seem to do the same thing every year.

I wasn't aware that not meeting that goal would result in slapping ads on articles. Also, Wikipedia itself was fully funded a while ago through next year, the foundation was trying to raise money for other projects and programs that aren't

I'm fairly sure they pay more than they receive in this particular case.

If these folks spent 1/10th of the time they've spent on ideological wars doing something more productive, FOSS would be a heck of a lot better, especially for end users.

Agreed, but the OP was in fact arguing that this does not constitute assault.

by kprobst 16y ago
It's really simple my friend. Imagine this happens to your daughter/wife/girlfriend/mom. Then come back here and help us rationalize whether or not it was an assault.

I like Reddit. It feels like a community, unlike Digg.

For many people it seems Reddit's the post-Digg destination. Certainly Reddit has been growing by leaps and bounds and trying to keep up.

Too many third party libs and packages still don't support PY3. Not a good idea.

I don't doubt that could be true, and if it's true then it certainly makes sense to spend $ to generate $$. Hopefully not a parallel to overpaid CEOs whose primary responsibility is to generate wealth for the stock holders rather than take

I think it's quite simple. If I'm a taxpayer in California, I want to know how my tax dollars are being spent. Specifically, I'd like to know why a football coach is pulling in $2M a year while state employees are being threatened with furl

Mono is free software. At this point you're more likely to be sued by Oracle over Java than Microsoft over Mono. FUD is FUD, intelligent people make technology decisions based on facts and costs, not fear.

by kprobst 16y ago
The read from the Oracle lawsuit is that using any of those will get you sued. I've read many arguments about how Dalvik is 'different' and some or all of these are 'safe' and so on, but the reality is that 'safe' is whatever Oracle decides

They're missing the not-so-famous Avatar Shark Drive, which had 250MB disks (built with metal plates, like mini hard drives). I used to own two of them. Ran fine under Windows 2000, and they were quite fast too. Great for backups.
