Indeed, I think they really did set themselves in by setting a price point. We have seen so many projects, like the OLPC $100, I mean $200 computer, the OpenPandora and a number of others go down this same route and learning the hard way.

I haven't done this, I've been lucky enough to get out of being underpaid by getting poached for much higher figures. That said, agencies have two conflicting incentives. One is to get a person landed for the highest possible salary, sinc

It could be controversial and the conclusions could be somewhat crackpot, but if the methods and reasoning is sound so it's of good quality otherwise I don't see why it shouldn't be published. If it can be demonstrated to be flawed by othe

I don't think the story is that different for the UK, the main points: The UK now has monthly quotas, which makes it impossible for business to sponsor visas some months. Companies have to become licensed sponsors first, which makes it hard

As I understand it, the iOS API for background tasks allows certain routines to run in the background, in this case the regular sending out of location data to Google. It doesn't let the Latitude app as a whole run in the background.

This doesn't explain one thing to me: If I have an app that is misbehaving, and x it out from the 'recent apps list', when clicking on that app again it will behave like the first time I'm using the app after boot. To me it looks like it d

I think it also depends on what stage a business is at. I think if you are in an initial high growth period the emphasis should certainly be on the 'buy right now' customers, these are new customers trying out a new company or customers yo

The bankruptcy rumours surprised me, since I remember reading years ago that Kodak shut down most of their film business etc. because of the market changing. I thought they just logically trimmed the business to what was feasible and they

I've had similar things happen to me. The best approach is to be on top of how the visa works, the quotas, the timings and the best visa agencies a potential employer should use to get you in. Often companies assume it's going to be easy

I always carry my iPhone 4 with my keys in the same pocket. Been doing so for about 14 months now, and I wear skinny jeans from time to time. The screen is still perfect. That said, since the glass is more brittle than plastic, and I do d

There aren't many single syllable verbs that end with an 'is' sound that doesn't end with a 'ss'. In fact, I think there are none. Outside of verbs, it's almost only names (and 'this'), so 'dis' would be a pretty rare way to spell a word

Something similar happened to me during the dotcom era. I was poached from a very nice job at an airline by someone I did work for on the side who always paid well. The salary he offered me was about 20% higher, plus he offered a massive

The same can be said for deals with record labels. I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing, it may be a good thing since it motivates more aspiring talent.
