Pain is systemic. There are lot of studies collecting data and showing that people with the same physical abnormalities experience varying degrees of pain. For example, my spine has lost its natural lordosis and is completely flattened yet

I mean, if you have perfect measurements of the state of the rocket and a complete model of it then it's just physics. Problem is that measurements are random variables and your model of the rocket is probably not perfect and now someh

Tax revenues trickle down to society very quickly. The amount of money trickling down is ridiculous that one might even call it corruption. As long as it is fairly distributed and there isn't a fixed amount of players getting most of t

20g of flaxseed oil (180kcal) contains a bunch of ALA, pick a massively low conversion ration to DHA/EPA of 0.5% or 1% or whatever, and you'll see that you'll get very near if not over the recommended daily amounts of 250-750

There are similar studies on meat/Neu5Gc being combined with fibre to reduce the toxicity - more carcinogens present the less fibre there is. There are similar studies on casein/whey. These studies do not make meat, milk, cheese o

Cyanide in apple seeds is toxic in proper amounts, should I avoid consuming apple seeds, or apples completely? Toxicity of certain compounds in meat or other foods has nothing to do with the food itself being healthy or unhealthy. Similarly

How am I misinformed? These doctors are exhibiting and supporting orthorexic behavior. I'm surely not going to listen to them. There's a bunch of papers on Neu5Gc, should I start being scared of meat toxicity? Diet containing seed

Just like meat is not toxic, neither is seed oil. I've been eating large amounts (~1000kcal a day) of flaxseed oil, olive oil, pumpkin seed oil, coconut oil and there has been no ill-effect on my cardiovascular or general health at all

If index is ordered, I imagined it as a flat array. I would go to the next bigger item using binary search. I guess SkipScan does a similar thing but the index is a btree. Of course, things get more complicated when more tuples need to be d

Does anyone know why something like binary search isn't a first simple choice for skipping to the next unique item, if the index is ordered? Is it because of the tree structure of the index?

The thing with most companies optimizing addiction (user engagement) is that they use these weird optimization loops that improve metrics one by one (+x% then +y%) but then end up with a product so far from the long-term equilibrium. There&

Of course not, because that study analyzes concentrates and not natural source of fructose. Eating the equivalent amount of fructose used in those studies in fruit will never get you similar effects to ethanol. These studies are interesting

This is not true. The Robert Lustig scaremongering is a big lie. In his talk he mentions the healthy Japanese but he does not mention that they eat more calories from fructose (in percentage of their consumed calories) than USA citizens yet
